MATCH REPORT
The mighty Fishburn traveled to South Shields to face a red-hot Harton & Westoe side fresh off an 8-1 win, delivering an absolute nine-goal epic that tested both teams to their absolute limits.
Harton opened the scoring early, but the setback only served to wake the visitors up. Finley gathered the ball on the left wing, drove directly at the opposition defence, and whipped in a magnificent cross to Archie, who launched a screamer into the top right corner before wheeling away to fix his hair in style. Minutes later, Archie turned provider—crossing from the left for Finley to loop a brilliant shot over the keeper, making it 2-1 to the mighty Burn. Harton managed to pull one back shortly after, sending the sides into the break locked at 2-2 after an intensely contested first half.
Half-Time: Harton & Westoe 2 – 2 Fishburn
Fishburn shuffled the deck for the second period, bringing Noah into goal for Oscar alongside second-half minutes for Little Davo, Zac, Davo, and Joe. Harton struck first after the restart to take a 3-2 lead, but Fishburn responded instantly. Archie picked up the ball in midfield and unlocked the defence with a deft pass to Finley, who held off pressure to fire his second of the match in off the post for 3-3.
Then came a moment of pure magic. Player of the Match Thomas snapped into a crucial tackle in midfield, took a couple of composed touches, and unleashed a sidewinder of a rocket from deep that flew past the keeper to put Fishburn ahead 4-3, sending the traveling supporters wild.
Harton pressed hard for an equalizer as the clock ticked down, but Fishburn threatened constantly on the counter—Finley going close to a fourth and Zac whipping a free-kick just wide. At the other end, Noah stood tall between the posts, pulling off an incredible 1-on-1 save to preserve the lead.
Heartbreak struck late on as Harton managed two goals in quick succession to steal a 5-4 victory. Despite the result, the hosts knew they had been in a war and were fortunate to walk away with the points. Fishburn can hold their heads remarkably high after showing incredible fighting spirit from start to finish.

​It was a dramatic afternoon at the hallowed grounds of the Fishbernabeu, where Fishburn took on a sharp Hetton Napoli side in an eight-goal thriller. Forced into an early tactical reshuffle following a late injury to defensive mainstay Ethan, the home side showed remarkable grit and spirit despite falling just short at the final whistle.
​The match got off to a difficult start for the hosts. Hetton Napoli broke through early, sending a clinical strike past Noah’s outstretched right hand to take an early lead. Fishburn responded with immediate intensity, pinning Hetton back and winning a series of corners, but the visitors caught Fishburn on the break to add a quick second and third.
​Refusing to let their heads drop, Fishburn found a lifeline before the break. Finley broke away with pace down the flank and delivered a brilliant pass to Davo, who coolly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner. Hetton struck back straight from the restart to make it 4-1, but Fishburn captain Panda stepped up with a moment of quality—setting up Finley, who buried a lovely strike into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
​Half-Time: Fishburn 2 – 4 Hetton Napoli
​Fishburn came out firing in the second half, completely controlling the tempo and applying relentless pressure. The moment of the match arrived from a corner kick: the ball floated into the box and Ava met it on the full, hammering a spectacular volley straight into the top right corner for her first goal of the season to bring the score to 4-3.
​With the Fishbernabeu roaring them on, Fishburn pushed hard for an equalizer in a tense, end-to-end battle. However, as the home side threw players forward, Hetton Napoli managed to slip through late on to secure a fifth goal and seal the win.
​Despite the 5-3 defeat, it was a fantastic, high-energy effort from the entire squad, who were thoroughly unlucky not to walk away with at least a draw.

A good run out for the team today against a strong Hetton side.

At 2-0 down we brought it back to 2-1 and we thought we were back in it but two quick goals killed us off towards the end as we tired and defended deeper and deeper.

Thomas with our goal today and it was great to have our captain, Panda, back after a spell out injured.

Noah in goal picked up man of the match. Some outstanding saves and really taking on board things he's learning in training.

Two Saturdays off now before the season starts on 5th September.
