The ressies ended on the wrong side of an absolute goal fest away to Chipping Sodbury Development.

2 goals on his return for star boy Taiwo omotayo ⚽️⚽️ and a worldy of a travela from Azaad were not enough to see us through to the 2nd round of the cup.

The team however thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, Chipping Sodbury is a hidden treasure on the outskirts of Bristol with chocolate box cottages, independent shops and a fine selection of pubs. The only frustration was that it would be hard to see all it had to offer in just one afternoon.

A weekend off next Saturday, before our next league match which is…. Away to Chipping Sodbury Development, Jack Russell, we are coming for you.

An afternoon to forget for the 1’s. Not at the races today, lost 1-0 in the league cup first round against Winterbourne. Not the most valiant attempt to retain the trophy😂 Dragon made two amazing saves, one from a penalty and one from a header that looked destined to go in but he sprang across his goal and tipped it onto the post. So he won this weeks 🦀

Cup again next weekend as we take on De Veys at Lockleaze Sports Centre

You probably won’t believe me, but I was thinking of spending this Saturday in Chipping Sodbury. I’ve always had a soft spot for the town since it was founded by William Le Gros in the 12th century. I was most looking forward to seeing famous ex England cricket wicket keeper Jack Russell’s art gallery. Anyway, I guess I’ll have to settle for a league cup first round battle away to chipping Sodbury development, a ground famed for a Mubarak curler, Sohail penalty, Hodge overhead kick, and a thunderous Reece free kick.

BRISTOL BARCELONA 3 – 0 THORNBURY TOWN RESERVES

First Half: Barca Blow Thornbury Away

Bristol Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the season with a dominant 3 0 win over Thornbury Town Reserves, avenging a pair of defeats from last year.

Barca started fast, led by Reece and Gilbert on the wings. Thornbury almost struck first, but goalkeeper Dragon pulled off a brilliant save on a looping cross to keep the game goalless.

From there, Reece took over, delivering a stunning 20 minute hat trick of assists:

1 0: Reece played in Elliott, who finished cleanly past the keeper.
2 0: Reece cut inside and found Elliott again, who whipped home his second of the match.

3 0: Reece floated an Iliman Ndiaye style cross to the back post, where Gilbert scored with an incredible acrobatic overhead scissor volley.
Second Half: Battle Hardened Defense

Thornbury pushed back after the break, but Barca’s defense held firm. Sam, Mass, Tom, and Sam put in a massive shift at the back to protect the lead, secure the clean sheet, and see out the 3 0 victory.

Looking Ahead

With two wins from two, Barca are off to a flying start. Remembering last season’s mid year slump after a fast start, the squad is keeping their feet firmly on the ground.
