Groundhog Day.
Rushmere throw away two goal lead in stoppage time again!

The game was scrappy and the ref was crappy and ruined the game for both teams.
Wrongly awarding a penalty to allow Muscliff the lead.
Rushmere went behind just after the half hour mark but responded immediately from kick off when Luis Ryall ran through to head in an equaliser.

Ryall at it again to put Rushmere ahead in the second half before a huge defensive error gifted Muscliff an equaliser.

Rushmere then retook the lead from Ben Clapham when his long range shot somehow found its way past the Muscliff goalkeeper.

Both teams in agreement the referee was inconsistent and frustrating for all. Another huge error he made was sending off the Muscliff player for an altercation with our linesman.

Rushmere took advantage of the extra player with 15 to play and made it 4-2 when Charlie King squared the ball for a tap in for Raman.

Muscliff weren’t going to lye down without a fight and to be fair to them began to dominate possession, The Reds didn’t manage the game well towards the end and rather than keep possession were getting caught on the counter attack and conceded a goal in the 90th minute, the referee added on 3 minutes but allowed to game to continue and to Muscliff’s credit they through everything at us and they got a late equaliser.

2 points dropped this morning.
We need to dust-ourselves off, get some players back from injuries and put up a fight in the coming weeks.

One thing is for sure, this club always come back.
We go again 🔴⚪️⚫️

Westover take all three points as Rushmere hit by injury crisis.

Was always going to be tough today with no fewer then 10 injured regulars and 1 suspended. Rushmere pulled in 3 late signings for this weekend to make sure we had 11 to face Westover.

The game started tight and both teams a little wasteful in possession. The Red Dragons weren’t at the races at all today and probably didn’t leave first gear.
Westover took full advantage around the 20 minute mark with a solo effort.
Shortly after the biggest bit of luck I’ve seen in football since Craig Forrest in 1996.. Ben Hands low strike from outside the box was safely covered by the Rushmere keeper until it hit a divot and flew over our keepers head 2-0 Westover, nothing we could do about it!

It wasn’t as if we didn’t create chances a couple of 1v1’s and a number of corners over the bar. We’d finally get our goal when Josh Hill from close range one’s it home on another set piece.

The game was scrappy, wet and disappointing from both sides really considering the opening day encounter.

Rushmere failed to find a way back into game and going from bad to worse we were forced to make two more injury changes during the second half.
As the final 10 minutes came we through bodies forward and basically playing with 10 men as Griff also picked up a bad ankle injury. Westover on the counter wrapped up the win for them in a very lacklustre Dragons performance.

Waiting for that January transfer window to open now 👀 😂

10 Man Reds let two points slip at the death after questionable offside goal for ECA!

A tough encounter against a side with many new and top additions to their squad. With our squad really stretched this week this was always going to be one of the more difficult weeks this season.

We took the lead early when Pidge knocked the ball in for Woody to make it 1-0 within 4 minutes.
ECA dominated most of the possession in the last 25 of the half and we sat in to hit in the counter. But it was ECA with a good counter of their own which got them level just before the break.

We started the second half as we did the first and pressed from the front and caused ECA into errors and misplaced passes. It was a good through ball by Woody with set Emeshili through to round the goalkeeper to give us our lead once again.
A very questionable penalty decision when Harry Kane (aka) Mitchell Speechly-price when tumbling to the ground and Jamie Morgan slotted home from 12 yards to level it once again.
Midway through the second half was the game change when a 50-50 ball won by Woody and the ECA skipper through his body into our players foot area to block, disappointed to see so many subs and supporters run onto the pitch, into the referees face demanding a red card, the referee fell for the drama and wrongly showed a red for Woody 20 minutes into the second half.

Rushmere to their credit stuck at the task and dug in deep and with minutes remaining in the game thought what was the winner when Ryall put a ball across the box which was left by Raman and smashed home by Emeshili as the clocked ticked over 90 minutes.
3-2 Reds
4 added mins said the referee.
The game became quite open as ECA looked to pipe men forward and Rushmere despite having 10 continued to counter. But it want until the 97th minute ECA were awarded a corner and even their GK came up and it was a scramble in the box which was half cleared after shot and block.. a hint of offside drama with the flag raised for 20 seconds before the ball was put into the net. Referee went to the linesman but again surrounded by ECA players and under the pressure a goal was given.
We felt hard done by but a draw perhaps a fair result.

Rushmere beaten by Southampton’s reigning Champions on the south coast.

Rushmere went int this huge cup tie with a number of key players missing but still with a good enough side to compete and the first half hour was pretty even. We showed the most likely in front of goal and creating more chances than the opposition. But just before half time we were undone by a good footballing side who took a quick 3 goal lead in at the break.

A few half time changes but our opponents were strong all over and being completely honest Rushmere boys weren’t at the races today, we looked flat. Lack of creatively and holding on to the ball. The rub of the green also didn’t fall our way. We created at least 3 or 4 1v1’s but something was missing and we failed to take our chances. At this level, against this type of side you get punished.

Matters got worse when we went down to 10 men for the 3 times this season when returning Jim Crossin was shown red.
Despite that we then scored the next goal when Pidges cross found substitute Tom Rowland to head home.
The extra man showed late on and Totton took every chances that fell to them leaving us helpless.
The better team won today and we draw a line under this disappointing performance and result.

We move on to our next league fixture and to write a wrong from this week and maintain our 100% record at the top. Up next Bourne

Well done to Totton

Rushmere go top and remain the only team to have a 100% record after defeating the champions on their own patch.

A very competitive game this morning at the county ground as Kraken see their big hitter return after being absent last week.
But it was The Red Dragons who struck early when Luke Pidgley’s cross found its way into the top corner, 1-0 Rush with just 5 on the clock.

Tyler Rudd began to pull the strings for Kraken down the right hand side and linking up well with Wilcox and they soon got level and then found themselves ahead after 25 minutes.

Rushmere switched a few players around and began to compete and be more physical with Kraken, stopping them playing quickly. It wasn’t long after we got ourselves level when Luke Pidgley found the ball just outside the box and on the spin blasted one into the bottom corner. As we headed closer to the break it was Kraken finding themselves under the Rushmere press and a mistake giving the ball away and some hard work from Woody got himself through on goal to give Rushmere a 3-2 half time lead.

Second half The Dragons came out strong and should have doubled our lead when Ryall found himself 1v1 but couldn’t convert, chances continued to come and Woody was at it again to make it 4-2 Rushmere. We found ourselves on top and frustration for Kraken. Another opportunity when Pidge with a lovely ball down the right hand side and Woody stretching just inches away. It’s safe to say we should have been home and try on the hour mark but we didn’t take the opportunity we were creating.
As the game got late on Kraken began to throw everything at the game and it was a little end to end, it paid off when Rudd danced through again to make it 4-3 and the game on a knife edge with 15 to play. But it was settled with 5 to go when Emeshili’s cross across the box was converted at the back post by Pidge for his hat-trick to sink the Kraken.

Well played to all the boys involved and full deserved win. Maximum points from our opening 4 games.

Red Dragons make it 3 wins from 3!

Rushmere started the game strong in the opening 10 mins but couldn’t seem to find the net early doors.
JP Morgan grew into the game when Rushmere began to be wasteful in possession and caused a few problems. By our standards we had a poor first half all over the pitch. Finally a bit of quality on the right hand side when Watt crossed the ball into Woody who headed home to make it 1-0 at the break. Just before the break he also received a 10 min sin bin which for the third game in a row see’s us play with 10 men.

Shake up at half time and Rushmere came out with more control in the second half and created more chances. But it was JP Morgan that would sn**ch the next goal while we were down to 10.

That woke Rushmere up a little and we began to dominate especially when our 11th man returned to the pitch. It wasn’t long after when a good ball through by Pidge to Charlie King who took his goal wonderfully, smashing past a helpless goalkeeper.

Pidge was at it again when he dinked a delicate ball onto the foot of Raman who smashed into the far corner to make it 3-1 Rushmere.

Chances continued to come and The Red Dragons thought they’d made it 4 when a brilliant buildup Involving 4 players on the far right put through Watt who took it round the keeper and in, but the linesman flag was wrongly raised with three players playing him onside.

The fourth finally came and arguably the best of the lot, when Mr Postman Pidge with a hatrick of assists played a ball to Pedro Nobrega who travelled forward and from 35 yards drilled a screamer into the bottom corner to cap off a good result and maximum points at the start of the season.

Man of the match: Charlie King

Robbins Cup holders start the new Dorset Senior league with dramatic win over Westover Bournemouth.

The Red Dragons struggling for numbers this morning with some notable names missing. We in-fact started the game with 10 men but that didn’t stop The Dragons taking the lead through Luis Ryall.
Finally the 11th man showed up and not long after 1 become 2-0 to Rushmere when Ryall again was on target.
Chances fell both ends for the remainder of the half but just before half time, new signing Raman made it 3-0 and comfortable and fully deserved.

Westover came out stronger in the second half and they looked most dangerous from free kicks and corners. Too many set pieces were eventually going to pay off and it become 1-3 10 minutes into the second half. Rushmere then switched off with some bad defending and it was soon 2-3. But a quick response after soaking up some pressure from Rushmere and Charlie King rounded the goalkeeper to make it 4-2 and look to perhaps settle the tie with not too long to go.
Westover had other ideas and after Rushmere received a Red Card had a long last 5 minutes of normal. Little did we know they’re would also be 15 added minutes 🤔 in that time Westover clinched another back to make the last 7 or 8 minutes interesting. They thought they had pulled it back but a combination of a foul and offside, ruled out their late, late equaliser. The Red Dragons managed to see the final few moments out as well as missing a couple of opportunities to put the game to bed.
A hard fought battle and more to come this season.

Best of luck to Westover and we move onto next week 🔴⚪️⚫️
