Start Your Career on the Greens at Rhondda Golf Club ⛳
Are you (or do you know someone) aged 17-19, currently out of work or education, and looking for a career that doesn't involve being stuck behind a desk?
At Rhondda Golf Club, we are looking for a motivated local person to join our greenkeeping team. This isn’t just a "placement", it's a 9-month journey with us. If you’re the right fit for the team, we want to retain you as a full-time apprentice after this period.
The "Office" with the Best View
Forget four walls and a computer screen. You’ll be working alongside our Head Greenkeeper, Mike, learning the science and art of maintaining a top-tier course. We pride ourselves on using organic and sustainable methods, so you’ll learn how to keep the grass "tip-top" without relying on heavy chemicals.
What you’ll learn:
⛳ Operating mowers and precision machinery.
⛳ Mastering strimmers, cutters, and course-prep equipment.
⛳ Agronomy (the science of soil and grass) and environmental care.
The Reality Check
The grass doesn’t wait! To succeed here, you need to be reliable.
Placement hours 30 (extended following completion to full time apprenticeship)
Summer Hours: 6:00am - 2.30pm (April to October).
Winter Hours: 7:00am - 3.30pm (November to March).
You must have a reliable way to get to the course for these early starts.
The perk? You’re finished by early afternoon while everyone else is still at work!
What’s in it for you?
This opportunity is delivered in partnership with Itec Skills and Employment through the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme. You will receive:
Training Allowance: £60 per week (30 hours).
Daily Food Allowance: £3.90 per day.
Travel Costs: 100% reimbursed.
Full Support: Help with Maths & English (up to Level 2), employability training, and 1-on-1 mentoring (via Itec Skills and Employment if required)
Ready to join the team?
If you’re a hard worker who loves the outdoors and wants a real career path in the environmental and sports sector, we want to hear from you.
Interested? Drop us a message here, email [email protected] with a bit about yourself and how you think you'd be a great fit for our team (Please remember you need to be aged 17-19 years old to qualify for this programme).
Closing Date: Monday, 2nd March 2026 at 4pm
Please Note: We are looking for the right fit for Mike and the team. Because we want to get the successful candidate started as soon as possible, we reserve the right to close this opportunity early if we receive a high volume of applications or find the right person before the deadline.
