Flying Fish Swimming School was established in 2021, to introduce babies and children to the many benefits and life skills that swimming offers in a safe, fun environment. As a PE teacher, I taught PE at both a high school and primary school in Norfolk for seventeen years. However, since having my own three children, and seeing how much they have enjoyed their swimming lessons, I was keen to work
for myself and start my own swimming school. In Feltwell, baby, toddler and pre-school lessons are taught on a Tuesday and Friday morning, and school-aged children on a Friday from 3.30pm onwards. Saturday morning lessons are taught at a different pool in Methwold. Weekday morning lessons are fun and varied and involves singing songs, games and building a child's confidence in the water. After-school lessons focus on teaching stroke technique and water safety. In 2023, I introduced adult aqua classes as well, to share my passion for exercising and keeping fit! Classes are run on a Monday evening, Tuesday and Friday morning. Exercising in the water is a great way to improve your fitness working against the resistance of the water. There is also much less strain on your joints and muscles, making it an ideal class for older people. Classes are different each week and involve using aqua dumbbells, noodles and aqua belts. In June 2025, Swimsanity classes were introduced on a Thursday evening, these are higher intensity HIIT (high intensity interval training) classes in the pool. We use hand paddles and buckets to increase the resistance of the water and overload the body. This class is open to both men and women, a moderate level of fitness is needed.
