We're nearly there, junior training starts this Sunday (24th) but so far we've had very few new recruits in the U6 age group (reception/Yr 1). If you know of any 5 year olds who might be interested please share this post. The U6 session time is 10-11am.
If Sunday mornings are difficult note All Stars (& Dynamos) sessions are on Friday evenings 5.30-6.30pm starting 6th May.
Other Sunday session times are U8s 11am-12pm, U11 mixed 9-10.15 am, girls only group 10.45am-12pm, U11&U13 9-11am & U15 10am-12pm. See you on Sunday.

Just a quick note to say a lot is going on at the moment and weather and COVID permitting we might just be getting closer to some cricket. All Stars & Dynamos sign up goes live tomorrow, hopefully you've also all received club junior membership forms and we've already got some junior league and T30 fixtures in the diary. Plus the 'off season' is busy enough: winter net practice is in full swing, it looks like we'll be part of an U15 indoor league starting soon and the Dynamos age girls will in action in another countdown cricket tournament on the 20th Feb.

The sign up for the 2022 All Stars and Dynamos programmes starts this week - Thursday 10th Feb for those that have signed up in previous years.
Note if you prefer the club Sunday morning training sessions there is no need to sign up to All Stars or Dynamos - you just need to join the club junior membership which costs £35.
However if you can't make Sundays then when you receive notification from the ECB just sign up to the relevant programme - All Stars is for up to and including school Yr 3, Dynamos is for yrs 4,5& 6.
If you're really keen then of course you're welcome to attend both Friday evenings & Sunday mornings. You just need to sign up to All Stars or Dynamos via the ECB portal (cost £40), once you've done that club membership is at a reduced rate of £10.

We did manage to get a team to the countdown cricket festival this morning and it seems the girls had a good time. Thanks to parents and players, thanks to Dave Newman for being the KFCC rep and thanks to Chloe & Lauren at Essex CCC for organising it all.

Just a quick note to say our first event of the year would have been this coming Sunday morning (16th Jan) with a girls team entered in a countdown cricket (which is softball) tournament in Chelmsford. Needing 6 for a team we only have 4 takers so just on the off chance that anyone has missed the relevant email we need girls in the 8-11 (maybe 7 if you're keen) age range....

Because of wet weather in September the pitches were 'put to bed' much later than usual. At the end of the season the squares are aerated, seeded and then given a covering of loam. It involves a fair amount of digging and pushing the spreader. The average age of the helpers was far from young and we really could do with more help - I really should have thought to ask for volunteers here so watch this space next time we've got some work to do at the ground.

The junior season was seen out in style today. The day started with softball matches for the All Stars & Dynamos age groups followed by the U11 T20, won for the second year in a row by the Kelvedon Kookaburras. The age group awards were then followed by a round robin series of parent/child team matches. Thank you to all the players, parents, coaches & ground staff for making both today and a football/COVID isolation/weather affected junior season such a great success. Thanks to all who supplied the various cakes today (really enjoyed the lemon drizzle & Victoria sponge). A special thanks to Ange & Tracey for their great work in the kitchen & bar.

🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧 U6 & U8 training is cancelled this morning i.e. the 10am & 11am sessions are both off, we're concerned that the ground will be too wet to train safely. Hopefully this is the last wet Sunday morning and the next couple will be OK.....☀️☀️?

U13 training is cancelled this morning, whilst the rain is clearing then the ground is wet enough that the risk of injury through slipping and sliding is going to limit what we can do to such an extent it's not worth going ahead.

It was a busy week for soft ball cricket, as well as the mini match play on Wednesday & Thursday there was a Kwik cricket festival at Great Bromley on Friday in which we entered a team in the beginner category.....and maybe beginners no more because playing Brightlingsea & Tendring twice each they remained undefeated. Well done team.
