We can confirm the sad and disappointing decision made by the RFL to reject the sole bid for a Featherstone Rovers Club to take part in the 2026 season.

This followed a substantial amount of time and effort given by all parties.

We will endeavour to seek out and engage with any interested parties to secure a future of the club.

The club can confirm that the approval process in respect of the submission for membership remains with the RFL.

Dialogue has continued throughout the Christmas period to address any issues as all parties work towards a positive outcome.

We will update further as soon as a decision is communicated to us.

I can confirm that as at the expiry of the deadline of 4pm today, there has been one submission by an interested party provided to The RFL in respect of the Club.

The interested party and the Administrators team at Ideal Corporate Solutions will work alongside The RFL to secure a swift conclusion to the assessment process to safeguard the future of the Club.

Further to previous announcements it is confirmed that following an application to court Featherstone Rovers Rugby League Limited has today 15th December 2025 been placed into Administration. The Court at the same time dismissed the Winding Up Petition.

Andrew Rosler, Insolvency Practitioner of Ideal Corporate Solutions Limited, has been appointed Administrator and who will manage the business, affairs and assets of the Company.

One of the principle aims is to safeguard the future of the Club and ensure that it can compete in the Championship in the forthcoming season.

Given the proximity of the new season, The Rugby Football League (RFL) have set a very tight timescale for all interested parties in acquiring the Club (and to gain membership of the RFL) to deliver their initial submissions by 4pm on Friday 19th December 2025.

The RFL will then undertake a period of assessment and decision making.

The Administrator requests that all such interested parties make contact immediately by email to [email protected]

Kenny played in the 1967 challenge cup final victory and represented Featherstone Rovers 286 times, kenny was inducted in to the clubs hall of fame in 2024

Rovers can confirm that the process the club is currently going through by applying to go into administration IN NO WAY affects the tremendous work that the Featherstone Rovers Foundation carries out.

The Foundation is a separate legal entity and a Registered Charity and has been, and continues to be, a shining light for the local community with all the projects, clubs and other activities it provides.

We hope that local bodies and individuals will continue to support the great work they do.

Following yesterday's club news, we can confirm that the pre season fixture against Castleford Tigers scheduled for Saturday 27 December has now been postponed.

We are working with the Tigers to arrange another date, once the club has worked through it's current challenges, and will update fans in due course.

STATEMENT

Rovers can confirm, ahead of the HMRC hearing in the High Court tomorrow, that following professional advice, the company has had no choice but to apply to go into administration, as it will be unable to trade it's way out of the present situation, due to the level of debt it currently has.

The club has therefore, through its legal advisors, today made an application to court, for a hearing at which we hope to be granted an Administration Order and we are now awaiting a date for that hearing.

This will enable the Winding Up Petition to be adjourned tomorrow and will allow our professional representatives to take the necessary steps to properly deal with the affairs of the company moving forward.

It is a regrettable course of action for all concerned, but ultimately, the only course of action available.

We continue to be in dialogue with the RFL regarding a new club participating in the league and cup structure for 2026 and will keep fans updated on all of these matters as things progress.
