All our boys’ and girls’ teams at Featherstone Flyers Football Club paid their respects this weekend and celebrated the life of a brave young Ella Lynch. May she always be remembered and celebrated.

Everyone at Featherstone Flyers Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ella Lynch of Rothwell juniors under 10’s after her incredibly brave battle against cancer.

Our heartfelt condolences go to her parents, family, friends, teammates, coaches and everyone Ella leaves behind during this truly heartbreaking time.

The football community is one big family, and we believe that at times like this it is so important that we come together. As a mark of respect and to honour Ella’s memory, a minute’s applause will be held before all of our games this weekend.

Rest in peace, Ella. You will always be remembered. 💜🖤

The boy in the centre is at the Leeds United Academy, they all have the same football coaching and football club (Featherstone Flyers ) from the age of 4 they train on a Tuesday & Thursday, when they turn 6 they can play in a team playing on a Saturday for the girls and Sunday for the boys. If you have or know of a child of this age wanting to learn and play the beautiful game, please visit the website www.featherstoneflyersfc.co.uk and complete the Register Your Interest form in full to ensure your child’s details are captured correctly. With three of our teams in cup action this weekend, here’s how they got on:

🟣 Under 12’s Raptors
The Raptors sadly bow out of the Shane Telford Memorial Shield after an away defeat to Yorkshire Amateur Juniors. A fantastic cup run, reaching the 4th round – plenty to be proud of 👏

⚫️ Under 14’s Hawks
The Hawks are through to the next round of the Under 14’s Challenge Plate! After three postponed games, they returned in style with an impressive 5–2 win over top of the league Woodkirk Valley 💪🔥

🟣 Under 15’s Spitfires
The Spitfires exit the Under 15’s Challenge Trophy in the 3rd round. Level at 1–1 at half time, but Middleton Park Juniors edged it in the second half. A strong performance and plenty of positives to take forward 💜

🏆UNDER 9’s LEAGUE CRYSTAL CHAMPIONS!!🏆

Today our Under 9’s Jets took on Middleton Park Juniors Blacks in the League Crystal final — and what a match it was! A tightly contested game from start to finish, with every single player giving their all to secure the very first piece of silverware for the Jets.

It was a nerve-shredding battle that went all the way to penalties, but our boys kept their cool, putting away every spot-kick. A huge shoutout to our number 1, Oliver, who pulled off some cracking saves to get us over the line!

Well done to the boys on their incredible victory! Everyone at the club is unbelievably proud of you!💜⚽️
