PLEA FOR HELP

Anyone able to run our event on 16 August on Q10/1?

Rob and I had already booked our summer holidays before being made aware the previous organiser wanted to withdraw from running this event.

Police notices are in and HQ is booked, we can also sort Marshalls, so just need someone to sort signage and man HQ / sort results on the day

Please get in touch if you are able to assist before 29 July, otherwise we will have to cancel 😩

Could we possibly have the youngest ever entrant to an ultra cycle race?

9 year old Lathan Lauder from Ashford is taking on his biggest ever challenge, as he joins his father Neil in taking on the Pan Celtic Ultra Race, starting on 12th July. 🚴

The route is a big one, 626 miles and an approximate elevation gain of almost 23,000ft. 🤯

They’ll start in Wales, then head over to Ireland where they will cycle north from Dublin all the way up to the Torr Head, Ballycastle, before turning back south to Belfast. From there, they will take the ferry to Liverpool and complete the final leg down to Conwy in Wales.

Although it’s officially a race, because of his young age, they’ll be treating it more like a tour. Their daily distance will depend on how he’s feeling and what the weather throws at them, but they’re aiming to complete the whole challenge in under 10 days. 💪

Alongside the ride, Lathan and Neil are hoping to raise some money for Diabetes UK - a cause that’s incredibly close to their hearts.

A target of £1,000 has been set to raise for the cause, and at the time of posting they need at least another £385 to hit that. 🙏

A massive good luck to you Lathan, what an experience for yourself and your dad. ❤️

This is the first session of its kind, and we are trialling the format with a view to creating a regular opportunity for open discussion and feedback from riders, clubs and districts. We very much hope it will be well supported and prove useful for everyone involved.

The session will provide an informal space to discuss any topics relevant to time trialling. Questions and discussion points can be submitted in advance, and there will also be an opportunity to raise items during the session if time permits.

If you would like to submit a question or topic ahead of time, please reply to this email.

We would be grateful if you could share this invitation within your club and encourage riders who may be interested to attend.
