Rising Stars 2-0 Faversham Herons
The Herons took the trip to Sturry Fc to face Rising Stars for the first time this season, conditions were perfect for football and the pitch was in brilliant condition!
Herons started the better of the teams keeping possession well, moving the ball around nicely between the midfield. However rising stars won a corner and with a superb delivery the rising stars player planted a quality header into the top corner of the net.0-1 this goal shook the herons and instantly started to panic on the ball, losing 50/50 battles, Mis judging passes etc, the best chance for either side came from the herons with a excellent shot from Harvae forcing a great save from the Risers keeper.
After the break the herons performance improved penning the Risers players inside there own half for long periods of the game but didn’t really test the keeper. A couple of stonewall penalties were ignored by the referee, with one being so obvious that both teams stopped playing! A couple of half chances fell for the herons but couldn’t find that cutting edge. Last 10 mins the herons went for it playing a 2-4-4 formation, but the risers defence remained in tact, last couple of minutes the herons won a corner everyone was sent up including the goalkeeper, the corner got cleared and a free kick was won on the half way line,
The free kick was delivered into the box, and the ball fell at the feet of Dylan who’s shot cannoned of the cross bar, risers managed a quick counter attack and slotted the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0 with seconds to go.
A draw would of been a fair result in this game but it was a loss for the herons. We will learn from this defeat and look to bounce back on Saturday against Herne Bay Harriers. ⚽️💙
