If fad diets worked, you wouldn't need to keep using them…

Right?

A huge weight loss myth is that you have to starve yourself or give up your favourite foods to get the body you want…

You don’t ❌

And this is the reality that my client Emma had to learn.

With being a busy mum Emma and was fed up with always feeling sluggish and not being happy with what she saw in the mirror…

The problem was, Emma was stuck in an endless cycle of restricting and bingeing.

Trying every fad diet you can think of, resulting in eliminating all the foods she enjoys and restricting her options…

Which is an IMPOSSIBLE goal to maintain.

Emma was left feeling frustrated, annoyed, and having lost all hope of getting that slim figure she wanted for her upcoming holiday.

👉That’s why my approach is different.

Do THIS before you hit the ‘f*ck it’ button.

We’ve all been there, when you’ve eaten poorly or missed a few workouts, the temptation is to press that button.

“I’ve had two glasses of wine; f*ck it, I may as well finish the bottle”...

“I’ve had 2 takeaways this week; f*ck it, I’ll get back on track on Monday”...

“I haven’t trained in two weeks, f*ck it, I’ll start back next month”...

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Every time I think of pressing the ‘f*ck it’ button, I try these tips first:

1️⃣ Hover over the button if you have to, but don’t press it!

Next time you feel like pressing the button, hover over it and think about how you’ll feel once you press it.

I can almost guarantee that you will regret it.

2️⃣ Use your ‘why’ as motivation
Think about why you’re doing it in the first place…

Whether you’ve got a holiday or event coming up that you want to look your best for…

You want to set a good example for your children…

Or you just want to feel more confident in your skin…

Your why is the thing that stops you hitting the button on the down days.

3️⃣ If you press it, then ‘reset’ it.

If all else fails and you pressed the button, then it's time to reset.

You’ve binged all day Saturday? Ok, don’t let that roll into Sunday…

You’ve missed two weeks of workouts?
Ok; don’t let that become three weeks…
We all fall off track sometimes - that’s just life!

There’s no point beating yourself up about it - it’s happened and you can't change that…

But you CAN change what you do going forward

And rewiring your mindset to ‘reset’ after every slip up can be the difference between actually hitting your end goal and not.

The biggest struggle most humans struggle with?

Consistency.

And this can make you unable to see a life where you are consistent with your good habits.

Maybe you can diet successfully for a week.

Maybe it’s two weeks.

🤦‍♀️But it’s never long enough to see consistent progress.

You DON’T have to workout to lose weight!

If that’s your goal, that’s fine.

But there are SO many incredible benefits to training other than JUST weight loss:

🧠 Improved mental health
🏃 Improved cardiovascular endurance
🦴 Reduces risk of osteoporosis
❤️ Boosting self confidence
👀 A focus or escape from everyday stress
💤 Improved sleep and rest

Even if your goal is to lose weight…

Try focussing on a few of these other benefits too.

Otherwise you’re really missing the bigger picture and selling yourself short.

Sometimes it’s mentally refreshing to view the process from a different angle.

See it as a package that comes with all the extras, not just the weight loss.

Probably 90% of consultation calls that I get on the women wants to build her glutes and tighten her core.

Particularly after children this can feel impossible to do.

But the golden key to success?

🔑Consistency.

came to me wanting to feel better and more confident in her skin.

✈️She has a job that requires travel and a busy life and with a young family she wanted a plan that allowed her to still have fun.

She is losing weight and inches consistency but more importantly you can SEE the shape change.

She has even been on an all inclusive to Mexico in between (hence the mega tan) and has been a consistent legend.

🚫Well working with me is the exact opposite.

I don’t work with people whose entire life revolves around food or exercise.

I love working with people who manage to tick their boxes DESPITE how busy they are.

This wonderful women is a busy mum with a busy life.

She came to me wanting to lose weight and feel good in her skin again.

🚀With a main focus around tightening her core and abs.

We have focused on getting her nutrition in check and teaching her how to diet even when she has lots on her plate or social occasions.

I gave her a mixture of home and gym workouts to ensure that she could fit something in no matter what life threw at her.

Just a great example how having a plan of action and some accountability can get you further with getting to your goals then you can imagine.

Many of my clients are busy mums and know the struggle of the family juggle.

But it doesn’t stop them from getting kickass results!

How?

By following these 3 simple tactics:

1️⃣ Teamwork makes the dream work

I’m always surprised by how many people don’t think to (or don’t like to) ask for help when they need it.
Ask your partner, friends or family if they can watch the kids for a bit so you can make some time to train, prep meals, or head off to an exercise class.

You can always return the favour and maybe even bad yourself a new workout partner.

2️⃣ Lose the all-or-nothing mentality

A short workout that you do 3-5 times a week, is better than the full workout you do a one a month.

Short, consistent workouts will not only add up to more exercise minutes over time…

But they will also build habits you’ll carry into other areas of your life.

3️⃣ Get everyone involved!

Make fitness a family activity - not only will you be making progress on your goals but it also sets a brilliant example for your kids.

Take the kids on your walks, out on your bikes, even get them doing home workouts.

Doing your best will look different each day and that’s ok!

You should still feel proud of yourself for any exercise you fit in.
