1οΈβ£ Lowdham Colts 3-1 Farnsfield Villa 1sts
Farnsfield Villa were beaten 3β1 away at Lowdham Colts in an entertaining pre-season friendly, but there were plenty of positives to take.
Both sides had early chances, with both goalkeepers making good saves. Villa then began to take control and create plenty of opportunities, but it was Lowdham who struck first with a well-worked through ball and finish to lead 1β0 at half time.
Changes were made at the break to give everyone valuable minutes, and Villa came flying out of the blocks. Flynn Shevlin did brilliantly down the wing before delivering a fantastic cross, which Henry Burton met with a superb volley into the corner to make it 1β1.
Villa continued to create chances, with Tom Winters seeing a powerful header crash off the crossbar from a corner, although he picked up a nasty cut under the eye for his efforts.
Lowdham regained the lead with a direct free-kick which went underneath the wall. Villa piled on the pressure looking for another equaliser, but were caught on the counter as Lowdham added a third.
A frustrating result for Villa, especially given the chances created, but plenty of encouragement to take from a competitive game played in great spirit on an excellent pitch and with superb facilities.

2οΈβ£ Farnsfield Villa Stags 2-1 Potters FC
The Stags finished the final pre-season with a 2β1 victory over the Potters in a competitive final friendly.
Not knowing much about the opposition, we started in an unfamiliar formation as we looked to try something different ahead of the season.
The lads started brightly, with Ben Wag setting the tone inside the first 10 minutes with three strong challenges. The commitment was there from everyone, with the teams battling for one another.
The Potters had some good chances on the break in the first half, including a drilled cross across the six-yard box and a header from just two yards out that somehow went over. We had two good chances of our own, with Dom Camara seeing a dangerous cross/shot flash across goal before David Burton came narrowly close with an effort that went just wide.
We went into half-time 0β0, with the message to communicate more, test their keeper and take more chances.
The second half started strongly and we got our breakthrough when Jack Brennan brilliantly kept a looping ball in play before sending another ball over the defence for Henri Marchant, who ran onto it and finished to make it 1β0.
Not long after, Eden produced a moment of class, juggling the ball over two players before drilling his finish into the far top corner. A fantastic bit of skill and an excellent finish to make it 2β0.
The Potters pushed late on, with AJ making several important saves before they eventually pulled one back from a corner with a powerful header.
The final five minutes were nervy, but the lads dug deep and saw the game out to secure a 2β1 win.
A great final test against a good bunch of lads. We wish the Potters all the best for their season in the Mansfield League.
