Farningham Cricket Club

Farningham Cricket Club 2 adult Saturday teams in KCVL, Sunday team, Women’s team, U17, U15, U13, U11, Dynamos & All Stars Various sponsorship packages are available.

Farningham Cricket Club was founded in 1857 by a small group of local men and boys wishing to play cricket for a team of their own. After a number of years the villages clubbed together and bought the ground from the farmer whose field they were playing in and became Life Members of the club. To this day cricket is still being played at Farningham but unlike 1857 not all members live and work in F

arningham. At present we run two league teams on a Saturday and one on a Sunday. There is a much bigger and substantially improved club house, which includes a bar, patio and play area for children.
200 fixture cards are produced at the start of every season and sent out to all Members, Vice Presidents, Life Members and Social Members. Since 2009 FCC has been building up a Colts section of its own as our Colts were amalgamated with Eynsford Village and it was felt that this was not working in the best interest of Farningham. To date we have a Colts section of some 80 to 90 children training on Thursday evenings. We have recently obtained Clubmark accreditation and this puts us in line with the top clubs around the country. This is an accreditation from the ECB in respect of children’s development, safeguarding and wellbeing.

2016/7 has seen the formation of our first ladies team which we are hugely proud to support. We are looking for new ladies members to join and push on ladies cricket in NW Kent. Our junior section already caters for girls and we hope to push on a really develop this section for the club and women in NW Kent. In winter 2015 we are having a new £43k project installed including a two lane net and artificla strip. Funding is being provided by the Biffa Award Scheme. ‘The Project has been funded by Biffa Award, a multi-million pound environment fund managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT), which utilises landfill tax credits donated by Biffa Waste Services’. www.biffa-award.org

We have a very active social side to the club with up to eight specific social events throughout season and weekly barbecues on Thursday evening at our Colts nights. The club is involved in the Village and a representative attends parish council meetings periodically and information on the cricket club is added to the parish magazine as well as articles in The Trident which is a local magazine for the surrounding villages. We have our own website and half yearly newsletter and hold a cricket week during the first full week of July every year. The Daily Mirror come along and play the Wednesday of our Cricket Week. WE have had very famous celebrities come along on this particular day which is played in the honour of Simon Ferrari who worked for the Daily Mirror. We fully appreciate the difficulties facing businesses in the current economic climate, so our sponsorship packages have been designed to provide you with a cost effective way of promoting your business to local customers whilst helping your local cricket club to continue to fund its activities at both adult and junior level. In return you will gain the benefit of having a successful local club represent your business. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information or to discuss your individual requirements. Should you wish to discuss sponsorship matters further or other ways in which you can support the club, please do not hesitate to contact Farningham Cricket Club.

Our very own Neil Spooner is performing a number of gigs with his band! I assured that any meteoric rise to stardom, will in no way shape or form affect staffing of our BBQ this summer!

Neil is a great clubman, works hard supporting our club all season. Please support Neil and buy tickets to your nearest venue!

The club has a young man from South Africa wishing to travel to UK and play cricket, he has accommodation arranged in the village and needs to find a job to fund his stay and travels, as well as secure his visa. All efforts to find employment have been fruitless so far due to weekend working required.

If anyone has or knows of a job that would suit this young man’s needs, please DM us and we will be in touch straight away.
