Both Bombers and Havoc were in action in NSL 2 this weekend. Here’s the BSF write up:

The 2023 edition of the BSF’s National Softball League got under way on 20-21 May at Farnham Park, with 12 teams each in three divisions. The early leaders after the first weekend of play are Legends in NSL1, The Mob in NSL2 and Meerkats in NSL3.

This weekend, the Blitzches competed in the final Chicks with Sticks tournament of the season, bringing home more hardware and cementing 3rd place in the Comp group for the series.

The team, which had cross-club representation with 4 Mossie, 3 Havoc, and 3 Bomber ladies playing, went 3-1-1 on the day. They also gave the A-grade, and otherwise undefeated “No Balls” a real run for their money, with the game ending in a hard fought tie.

We can’t wait to see what they can do after 6 months of offseason training 😉, with hopefully some indoor thrown in!

Thanks to Alan and Maidenhead Softball for a great day!

Last weekend the Blitz Mossies played Bristol WRECk. After a slow start losing their first game on Saturday morning, they soon came to life with victories over the eventual finalists The Minions and some familiar faces on the Raiders. Unfortunately, the heat began to win the day and they finished with a 2 and 3 record.

Sunday was fancy dress day. Stevella DeVille and the 101 Blitzmations came in strong, defending their fancy dress title from last year. They battled the heat and played some more very close games in including a loss to Maidenhead by 1 run to put them in contention for the plate.

To their surprise they had to face Maidenhead again in a semi final. It was another tight game but the Mossies and Stevella came out on top setting up possibly the world’s first simian/canine final against the Bristol Monkey Force.

For the first 3 innings it was a 1-1 ball game. But Monkey Force put 7 runs on the board in the 4th. That proved too much to chase down, and the Mossies ended up as the 2022 Upper Rec plate runners up.

They would like to thank: the heat for almost taking out a third of the the team along with Jagerbombs, Kenny Rogers and Popworld for playing a strong role in Sunday’s performance.

Bring on next year!

Blitz Bombers rounded out their season with 2 wins on the last Sunday of NSL1 play. Despite beating the team above them twice over the course of the season, the last minute heroics weren’t quite enough (by a one game margin) to avoid the drop. Looking forward to seeing what this talented bunch do next year in NSL2.

A little harsh on the Meerkats who were well within touching distance at 8-11 until Havoc broke it open at the bottom of the 6th to run out winners.

The weather was hot and so was the action during an exciting weekend of play for teams in National Softball Leagues 2 and 3 at Farnham Park on 9-10 July, with promotion and relegation, Nationals qualification and Nationals titles all up for grabs.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!: Blitz Havoc add the NSL 3 title to their league title via a 5-1-1 record in the round robin (the draw courtesy of MK Diamonds as usual), an epic comeback win over a tough Storm team and a hard fought final against the Meerkats.
