Most New Year resolutions fail, simply because they’re built on motivation…

…and motivation is a feeling that comes and goes. It is temporary.

You feel fired up, you go all-in, you miss a day, then your brain goes: “Welp… I ruined it.” And you quit…

Motivation isn’t the problem. Your plan is (if you’ve got one). If your strategy is “I’ll do it when I feel like it,” you’ve already lost because life is busy, stressful, and unpredictable. Your results won’t come from random bursts of inspiration you get from scrolling on instagram.

They come from what you can repeat on your worst days. They come from building Discipline.

Focus on building the systems, the right habits and not merely goals.

You can do it but it takes time, patience, hard work and yes, it can be boring… but that’s exactly why it works.

Don’t aim for “perfect.” Aim for consistency. If you miss a day, you don’t “start over,” you just do the next rep. That’s the difference between people who change for January… and people who change for good.

NEAT: The underrated recipe for Weight Loss.

Most people think weight loss happens only in the gym…

but lets look at it objectively, for most of you, the gym is just a tiny fraction of your weekly hours.

The real fat loss magic happens in the other 150+ hours. And that’s where NEAT comes in.

NEAT = all the calories you burn outside of exercise: walking, cleaning, taking the stairs, moving around at work, even fidgeting. It’s the biggest AND most overlooked part of your TDEE when it comes to losing weight.

You can smash a sweaty 1-hour workout… but if you sit all day, your total daily burn barely moves and you will struggle to lose weight.

But increase your steps, stand up more, walk to the shops instead of driving, stay generally active, do those dishes and hoover the house…and suddenly your calorie burn rises without feeling like “exercise.”

That’s why people who move more throughout the day lose weight faster and easier than those who rely only on the gym.

If you’ve been dieting, training hard, but still stuck… look at your NEAT. It’s the quiet hero of fat loss that nobody talks about, but it makes ALL the difference.

TDEE Series- Ep 2. BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)

No gym. No movement. No steps.
Just your body existing; maintaing homeostatis- breathing, repairing, pumping blood, keeping you alive 24/7.

That is BMR.

Most people don’t know this but your BMR makes up the biggest chunk of your daily calorie burn.
So if your goal is long-term, sustainable fat loss, improving your BMR is one of the smartest moves you can make!!!

So how do you increase it?

Definitely not by starving or doing endless cardio.

But by building more lean muscle, getting enough protein, sleeping properly, and staying consistent with strength training.
When your body has more muscle and better recovery, it naturally burns more calories, even when you’re chilling, scrolling TikTok, or sleeping.

A faster metabolism means easier dieting, easier maintenance, and easier long-term results.

All of these fall into other 3 factors of TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), which I’ll cover in this series.
