The 2018/19 ADTTL season has now virtually finished again for another year but the league tables, winners & losers are pretty much certain.

Once again Farnborough Tennis Club was well represented in all four divisions.

In Division One Tennis A finished a respectable 3rd with both Michael Kwan & Paul Shakespeare averaging over 70%.
Tennis B finished well above the relegation zone & Eliot Tilley topped his teams averages winning 67% of his games. Both teams got knocked out in the semifinals of the League Cup by Central A & Central B respectively. Our teams had a good year but fixture re-arrangements & arrangements were a big issue this season.

In Division Two, Tennis were represented by the C,D & E teams. The C team won the League & Cup double. Mirko Danso was the star man averaging 89% & he was ably assisted by Colin Baggott 71%, Shaun Newbold 69% & Pu Zhang 62%.

The D team finished in mid division which was a superb effort from last years Division 3 Champions. Peter Bone topped his teams averages with 73%.

Tennis E found it a big struggle this year & are now relegated to Division 3.

In Division 3 our F,G & H teams represented the Tennis Club. All three teams performed very well, especially Tennis F who stormed the division winning easily by over 25pts!!!.......

The F team went through the season unbeaten as well as completing the double by winning the Cup. Andy Barnard topped his teams averages with 81%. Graham McCulley, the evergreen Peter Killick & Peter Butler all backed him up in superb fashion.

A big shout out must also go to Charles Burton who got the highest average of all our tennis men in the Division with a cracking 84% which helped his H side finish in 3rd place. He was ably assisted by Tushar Vaja 59% and Graham Rudd.

Tennis G’s Kim Phillips was his sides top dog averaging 64% with John Sheehy 53%, Alan Richards & Nigel Roberts providing the backup.

Finally in Div 4, Tennis J & Tennis K finished 3rd & 5th respectively.

Very pleasing was that we mixed the youth policy with the geriatrics policy (only joking!!!!)of the club & they combined superbly.

The experience, etiquette & tactics our elder statesmen gave the young bucks Joe Sparkes 56% & Michael Wolfe was invaluable & will bring them on in leaps & bounds. Watch out for these boys, they will be in your higher division very soon!!!!

Anyhow a big shoutout to our elder statesmen John Davis, Ian Brown, John Page, Keith Johnson, Ken Lewington & Graham Dorey!!!! The before mentioned are still competing very well & are an asset to our club & the league, thank you gentlemen.

All in all another very good season for Farnborough Tennis “Table Tennis” Club.

Thank you to all the team captains who really have made the season run very smoothly.

A big thank you as always to Peter Killick for helping out with the “hall bookings”, “finding a player”, “general gossip & enquiries” & all the other hats you wear!!! I’m not sure whether you get told it much but the club do appreciate your hard work.

Last but very nearly not least, a thank you to Colin Baggott & his coaching team for his continued great work with the youngsters.
Colin will update you all very soon on their development.

Finally if you have any interest in playing in the summer league or entering a team please contact Peter Killick or John Page.

Regards,

Paul Myers
