Things I do to help my mental health
Mental health isn’t something I’m super open about on here, but it is something I struggled with in the past, and something I try to help my clients with too, as it’s such an important part of a fitness journey
So if you’re struggling a little lately, especially with the colder darker days, do these things and I promise you, you will feel better 🤍
- Movement, especially in the morning. I don’t know what it is about a morning walk or even a little bit of stretching, but it seriously helps to clear my head and set me up for the day feeling good. It doesn’t have to be anything major, even a 10 minute walk around the block will do the trick
- prioritising eating good, whole foods and minimising processed foods. Don’t get me wrong, I love a sweet treat or a pizza every now and then, but I swear after a big weekend of not eating great, I never feel great too, and that goes for the opposite, when you eat well, you will naturally feel better too, your gut produces most of your serotonin (happy hormone) after all 🥙
- Knowing when to say no and prioritise yourself. It’s so easy to get caught up in social plans and events, especially in the lead up to Christmas, but you can’t pour from an empty cup, so remember that its okay to say no and take that time to recharge and refocus 🩷
And finally if you are having a low day, or are struggling, I’m always a message away 🤍
