Last weekend we traveled up to London to attend their sixes tournament! We had a fantastic showing of members making up half of the teams entered! Our 3 teams had varying success but one team won the tournament, getting the trophy that London Camanachd has won for the last 11 years running and we have only won it once before!

Cornwall B were joint match winners with so we went to penalties, with a cracking save from Melman, our keeper, we just beat Bristol.

Really lovely to see everyone, and a massive thank you to Jamie for organising the tournament!

Cornwall storm to the top of the National League with a dominant display at home to Oxford Shinty Club.
Cornwall 7 (Amos 24’, 50’, 87’, Tjia 46’, 56’, 89’, Dickinson 70’)
Oxford 1 (Doran (9’))
Article to follow in the Packet Newspapers out on the shelves Weds pm. Will we make the back page again? Only time will tell. Sourcefm continue to follow us with a Cornish Shinty feature going on the radio next saturday. So great to get some decent local coverage enabling us to reach more people and continue to grow our great game. Having a bit of home support means the world and when it brings new folk along keen to get stuck in, thats the lifeblood of the sports continued resurgence in the south. F**ting testament to all the hard work of the committee and of course our new press team. English Shinty Association and Cornwall Shinty Club's own award making film maker Winston Tjia signed off with a 43minute hatrick in a spectacular second half appearance. Great to have him in front of the cameras one more time before he heads back to Singapore. We will miss him hugely both on and off the pitch, but hoping we'll see the fruits of his labours on the big screen at some point soon. Whilst Cornwall Shinty Club take a break from training for a couple of weeks, Mabe Shinty Club will be training a couple of new players this week ready for the start of the SWSL 1-2.15pm Tues and Thursday and we will be leading a first session for the Scouts Thursday 6-8.30pm. Huge thanks to Jack F**t travelling down from Durham Shinty Club to officiate and to our goal judges Archie and Bill James and of course to Oxford Shinty Club for coming down to play us. All massively appreciated. Couple more photos of the match courtesy the management...

Great result today against Oxford Shinty Club with a really tough first half with Oxford scoring the first goal of the match, and Cornwall taking a while to even the result. Unfortunately a couple of Oxford players got injuries in the first half resulting in them playing a man down for a while. At half time we gave them another player to even the teams back up.

Even with a cracking Oxford keeper, who got man of the match, Cornwall’s strong front line in the second half resulted in 2 players (one being our captain) scoring hat tricks. In addition to a great volley in from a new team member. It was a really fun game, thank you to everyone from Oxford who traveled down to play.

Looking forward to a fab night out now, and the London Shinty Festival in September!

We will be taking a pause in training but will be back on September 2nd and would love to have any new players along!

We will be joining Melissa from the Sat Breakfast show tomorrow at 8.30am at Sourcefm to talk about our big match with Oxford Shinty Club at 2pm tomorrow. Our last home match of the season gives us a chance to top the National League. Exciting times for Cornish shinty....if you want to find out more tune into Sourcefm at 96.1FM tomorrow from 8.30-9am or pop down to support us at The Dracaena Centre in Falmouth- 2pm Throw-up. Can we build on our historic success away to London?

With family and friends across Cornwall, as well as connections through my job in St Mawes and my studies at the University, I believe I could bring in a wide range of guests to discuss local stories, events, and community projects.
