🦴🦴🦴 Bones. We’ve all got them. How dense are yours?
Your bones are very much ‘use them or lose them’ parts of your body. Without a bit of action, they lose their density and become more porous… and that means weaker and more likely to break.
The good news is that you can do something about it.
Before age 35 you can get to peak bone density to set you up for older you.
After age 35 you can encourage bone growth at any point, even at age 100!
Resistance and impact encourage bone growth.
Resistance means lifting heavy weight (whatever heavy is for you, but definitely heavier than that pink dumbbell you have under the stairs).
Impact means jumping.
In Olympic lifting we practice jumping, with weight. To start with that will be nice and light but you’ll surprise yourself with how quickly your body adapts and what it’s capable of, whatever your age.
Why are weightlifters so obsessed with weightlifting? Come and find out, and grow strong bones while you’re at it.
