Falmouth DC return to league action this weekend at Dracaena Centre and host visiting Mawnan 2’s.

Last season saw both teams take 3 points at their home grounds with last minute winners. Resulting in a 3-2 win for DC early in the season, then a 4-3 win for Mawnan at the end of the last campaign. Both sides now with a new roster of players for this tie.

George Everly Cup 1st Round
Falmouth DC Vs Falmouth United
Full time 1-2

Falmouth DC fell short again in the dying moments of the game to go out of the cup.

Ryan Richardson opened the scoring with an effort from outside the box, Josh Salter laying back a pass for onrunning Ryan to rifle his effort towards goal and past the opposition keeper.

DC had 2 more further goals disallowed for close call offsides before Falmouth Utd scored an equaliser minutes before the end of the first half.

HT 1-1

Falmouth United a well driven team playing from the back, with DC pressing high to win the ball back had plenty of chances to regain the lead. With 3/4 efforts going narrowly over the bar or wide of the goal. And the opposing goalkeeper making some good stops between the sticks.

Fresh legs came onto the field with Harry Perry and Theo Broughton coming on with 35 minutes to play.

DC had a handball penalty appeal waived away in the last 10 minutes, a cross towards goal met with a hand above head height ruled out due to close proximity , frustrated the DC efforts.

Falmouth United went on to score a winner with their only shot on target of the second half in the 90th minute of the match. Leaving DC no time to push for the winner , now equaliser, we hoped to get.

FT 1-2.

Credit to Falmouth United, a very organised side playing good quality football from the back into mid field. And all the best to them in the Cup competition and Division 1 league this season.

Falmouth DC host Falmouth United in the first round of the George Everly Cup.

Falmouth Dc last year fell short at the first hurdle last year against another Division 1 side vs Wendron 3rds. Falmouth DC looking to improve on last years cup run against this seasons local division 1 opposition.

There’s a good buzz around the squad already having won our opening 2 matches, with nearly the majority of the players putting available for selection.

Falmouth DC 4 Holmans Res 2 (HT 1-1)

DC made it 2 wins from 2 while inflicting defeat on the Blaythorne lads who in contrast opened their own league campaign with a defeat.
Dc made a couple of changes to the starting line-up with Ryan Caddy coming in at CB and Zach Maunder on the left wing.
Two positional changes saw Dave Webb in his familiar left back role and Matt Mclroy pushed a little further forward in midfield with Will Williams behind him.Harrison Herman made his debut at right back making him the 209th player to play for DC in the all time stats.
Despite changing weather conditions during the game with a mixture of rain sun and strong winds both teams played some neat football on the narrow Dracaena top pitch.
The first goal came on 9 minutes Herman playing the ball to Josh Salter who split the defence for Zach Maunder to run onto and he had time to step inside the covering defender before slotting into the corner.Maunders 76th goal for the club as he remains all time top goalscorer.
Soon after Kyle Cooke forced a finger tip save as his shot was tipped over.
Holmans fought back and had several chances to score first a curling shot on the turn hit the outside of the post before home goalkeeper Ben Manley tipped a shot onto the bar which saw the follow up bravely blocked on the line before Manley was again called into action tipping a shot wide.Holmans were not to be denied and deservedly equalised in the 38th minute a long clearance caused hesitancy between CH and keeper and with neither player calling saw the home defender head over the onrushing keepers head for a simple tap in for the striker.
The first chance of the second half saw Maunder again torment his fullback and got to the byline rolling the ball across the goal line but unfortunately no one followed it in.
Dc then went ahead a Maunder corner was met at the far post for Ryan Richardson to head in to continue his goalscoring form.2-1 then became 3-1 when another corner on the left failed to be met by the tall Holman defenders enabling Caddy to head goalwards forcing a smart save but the rebound fell to Salter who volleyed in from 4 yards.
DC were now well on top and brought on Theo Broughton(Cap No210) for his debut and his fresh legs immediately made a impact.The fourth goal for DC came from a long throw near the corner flag again not dealt with defensively as it found Caddy who cut across his shot the ball finding the inside of the side netting.
There was just time for Holmans to pull one back and add a little respectability to the scoreline when DC themselves failed to clear a scrappy cross and it was bundled in before referee Justin Moses who had a good game blew up for full time
M.O.M- Close one this week but it goes to Rio Baggeley who narrowly beats Zach Maunder.
Rio put his body on the line on numerous occasions blocking and heading everything that came his way 👏👏👏

DC host travelling side Holman 2’s in our second league fixture of the season, with the hosts looking to add another win on last weekends comeback result. A much needed improved defensive display and starting the game how we finished the previous match to keep Holmans at bay.

Falmouth DC 6 St Agnes 4(HT 3-3)
A winning start for the DC boys who eventually overcame a stubborn Aggie side.Fielding a number of new signings the Dracaena outfit had a good mixture of experience alongside younger players and on paper looked well balanced.
Against the run of play St Agnes scored first with an excellent long range effort from thirty yards that home keeper Ben Manley had no chance with.Goals came at regular intervals up to the break with the home side scoring through Josh Salter who side footed home,a header by Ryan Richardson from a freekick and a curled shot into the far corner by wide man David Webb.
Aggie added a couple more to their tally a through ball saw the home defence slow on the turn before a deflected shot saw Manley wrong footed.
There was no panic in the ranks though as Harry “H” Perry delivered the half time team talk and the experience of new skipper Matt Mcllroy made sure the younger members of the squad didn’t panic.
It was clear the DC outfit had more goals in them they just needed to tighten up at the back.
Despite Aggie scoring first again DC ran out convincing winners with further goals by Kyle “KC9” Cooke,a second by Salter before Mcllroy completed the scoring.
A positive start to the 2026-27 season with good performances from Jake Nash at CH and Rio Baggely who both deserve a mention
M.O.M-Josh Salter who as well as his two goals was always available as an option in the midfield areas and kept things simple when needed 👏

All eyes on tomorrow’s opening game, but a change of fixtures for further down the line.

Falmouth DC have been drawn against St Buryan 2’s in the first round of the Cornwall FA junior cup. We host the visitors on the 26th of September at Dracaena Centre.
14:00 on the Matchday.

Last year we achieved the round of 16 in the competition, but welcoming back previous winners Captain Ryan Caddy along with Kyle Cooke we aim to progress again this season. Alongside another winner in David Webb who has signed across from Dropship to Falmouth DC for the upcoming season.

Falmouth DC finished their pre season friendly games with a 10-1 win over Falmouth Athletic.

DC took a 9-1 scoreline at half time and changed the squad around to give valuable minutes to everyone involved.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

A change behind the scenes at Falmouth DC, Andrew Annear will be taking a step back from his role as Assistant Manager at the club with his new job at Falmouth Town Football club now in full swing and his commitments towards supporting his own business. Andy will still be present at DC when there’s no games up at Bickland.
All the players and board would like to thank Andy for his commitment , time and knowledge in helping DC last season. His understanding of the game will be hugely missed having played at a great standard of football here within Cornwall.

With Andy’s departure also sees a changing of assistants as we welcome Harry Perry to a more senior role within the club as the new Assistant manager . Harry joined us last season and quickly became a favourite amongst his team mates. Rumour has it, there were a few clubs after our HP Wicked, but has opted to stay within DC and help build the club to a new direction for the upcoming season where a plethora of new players have joined across pre season.

We would like to wish Harry all the best for his new role while also thanking Andy at the same time!
