ELEVEN boxers have been selected to represent Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
All eleven athletes will make their Commonwealth Games debuts, with the squad also marking Team Scotlandโs largest ever female representation in boxing at a Commonwealth Games, with five women selected.
The five women selected are Brooke Neely (Irvine Vineburgh),Stephanie Kernachan (Falkirk Phoenix), Lara Brown (Bronx), Niamh Mitchell (Bowhill Miners) and Caitlin Rainey (Nightmare).
They are joined by six male boxers โ Aaron Cullen (Irvine Elite), Nick Devlin (Nightmare), Leo Church (Nightmare), Sonny Kerr (Byron), Alan Perrie (Doghouse) and Robert McNulty (Goodfellows).
Boxing Scotland Chief Operating Officer Marianne Crichton said: โWe are absolutely delighted to see our nominated Team Scotland athletes confirmed for Glasgow 2026. Congratulations to every boxer selected, each one has worked incredibly hard and deserves this opportunity on individual merit.
โA huge thank you must also go to our coaching team and clubs across the country for the commitment, support and guidance they have provided throughout the journey.
โWe are also incredibly proud of the gender split within the team. It reflects the hard work that has been taking place behind the scenes for a number of years to create greater opportunities and pathways for Women and Girls across Scotland, and it is fantastic to see that progress reflected on such a major stage.โ
The squad contains a number of trailblazing female athletes in Scottish boxing, such as Niamh Mitchell. European Junior Boxing Champion in 2022, Niamh became the first Scottish female boxer to win a major international competition and was subsequently named Young Athlete of the Year at the Scottish Sports Awards.
Since then, Mitchell has stepped up to the senior ranks, winning the British title and competing at the 2025 World Championships. She recently claimed Scotlandโs first ever senior female international gold at an overseas multi-nation event, winning the Bocskai Tournament in Hungary.
Another trail-blazer is six-time Scottish champion Stephanie Kernachan, Scotlandโs first female British champion and first woman to box for Scotland at the elite womenโs World Championships.
The womenโs squad is completed by Caitlin Rainey, bronze medallist at the European Under-23 Championships in 2024, four-time British and six-time Scottish champion Brooke Neely, and Lara Brown, who took bronze at this yearโs Gee Bee Tournament in Finland.
The menโs line up is similarly strong with European Under-23 silver medallist Aaron Cullen who is joined by World Championships quarter-finalists Alan Perrie and Robert McNulty. Perrie, was also a medallist at the European Under-23 Championships in 2024.
Leo Church comes into the Games in fine form, having recently retained his title at the prestigious Algirdas Socikas Tournament in Lithuania, while the form of two-time British senior champion Sonny Kerr and former European Schools medallist Nicholas Devlin has helped them earn selection for this summerโs Games.
The squad will be aiming to continue Scottish boxingโs proud 96-year tradition of being the only sport to win a medal for Team Scotland at every single edition of the Commonwealth Games.
Team Scotlandโs Chef de Mission, Elinor Middlemiss MBE, added: โI am delighted to welcome this talented boxing squad to Team Scotland for a home Games this summer. Itโs particularly exciting to see a record female representation in the sport, amongst a group of boxers who have already achieved success on the international stage.โ
The boxing competition takes place from 24 July โ 1 August at the SEC Centre. Tickets for Glasgow 2026 can be purchased at glasgow2026.com
