🔥 Sunday Junior Golf Round‑Up! 🔥

Numbers were down a little — county matches, tired legs from Club Champs week, and a certain late‑night football game might have had something to do with it…

But Arran Reid didn’t get the memo. Fresh off winning the Q‑School Final on Saturday, he came straight back with another brilliant performance to take Sunday’s event too! Brother Jack Reid wasn’t far behind alongside Max Smith on Even Par.

On the Mini Tour, Charlie Kerr edged out Elijah Hughes with a cracking nett 31.

And the Main Tour belonged to Charlie Wilson, who fired an outstanding nett 61 — fantastic to see his hard work paying off.

👏 Superb effort from all our juniors.

🏆 Junior Championship Finals Day 2026 🏆
What an absolutely brilliant day at Falkirk Golf Club. The standard of golf on show was exceptional, the sportsmanship was first‑class, and the support from families, members and friends created a fantastic atmosphere from first tee to final putt. Thank you to everyone who came along — it truly made the day special.

⛳ Junior Championship Final
Ruari McNeill v Blair Wooler

A final worthy of the occasion. Blair came flying out the blocks, racing to a 4up lead, but Ruari showed tremendous character to claw it back to 1 down with some superb golf.

The 18th summed up the entire match. Blair, 1up, fired a brilliant approach to 8 feet. Ruari responded with a stunning shot of his own to inside a foot, his birdie conceded. With the pressure on, Blair rolled in his putt with nerves of steel to seal the win in front of a sizeable crowd.

A tremendous match played in great spirit by two outstanding young golfers.

⛳ Junior Handicap Final
Rory Martin v Alasdair McNally

Another thriller that went the distance. Rory took early control and moved 2up, but Alasdair battled back strongly on the back nine to edge ahead and stand 1up on the 18th.

Rory wasn’t done — he drained a sensational 20‑footer for his four, letting out a huge cheer as it dropped. Alasdair then showed brilliant composure, rolling his tricky downhill putt in with perfect pace to secure the trophy.

A brilliant contest between two determined competitors.

⛳ Mini Tour Championship
Herbie Hughes v Fraser McNally

A cracking 9‑hole battle. Herbie had a putt on the 8th to win it, but his bold attempt ran past, allowing Fraser to hole and take the match All Square heading to the last.

Both players showed great touch around the 9th green, each getting up‑and‑down to force extra holes. On the first playoff hole, Herbie produced a superb putt to clinch the title — a fitting finish to a fantastic match.

⛳ Q‑School Championship
Cameron Walkinshaw v Arran Reid

The youngest finalists delivered another excellent contest. Played as 9‑hole strokeplay, this one was neck‑and‑neck with two holes to go. Arran then stepped up with some brilliant golf down the stretch to secure the win.

A superb effort from both boys.

👏 A Day to Remember
Every finalist should be incredibly proud — not just for reaching the final, but for the quality of golf they produced in front of a big, supportive crowd.

A huge thank‑you to everyone who came along, encouraged the players, and stayed for the prizegiving. Days like this show exactly what junior golf at Falkirk is all about.

💙💛 Just a brilliant day. We are very lucky to play at a club that is so supportive of junior golf.

🏆 FINALS DAY — THIS SATURDAY 🏆

Over the past few weeks our juniors have battled their way through Preliminary Rounds, Last‑16 ties, Quarter Finals and Semi‑Finals across four different championships — Club Championship, Handicap Championship, Mini‑Tour and Q‑School.

They’ve played in sunshine, wind, rain and everything in between… and now, after an incredible month of golf, we’re down to our finalists.

This Saturday, they step onto the tee for the last time in this year’s championships — and we’d love to see the whole club behind them.

⛳ Junior Finals begin from 2:30pm
🏅 Prizegiving around 6pm in the clubhouse

Whether you’re a member, a parent, a past junior, or someone who simply loves seeing young golfers thrive, come along and support them. The standard of golf this year has been outstanding, and the atmosphere on Finals Day is always something special.

Let’s give these young players the crowd they deserve as they compete for the 2026 titles.

💙💛 Everyone welcome — see you there!

🏌️‍♂️ FGC Juniors – A Great Effort from Louie Anderson

It wasn’t to be for Junior Vice‑Captain Louie Anderson in Tuesday night’s Gents Handicap Championship knockout, but what a match he played.

After finding himself 3 down with 3 to play, Louie showed brilliant determination to claw his way back and force extra holes. On the 20th, his putt agonisingly lipped out — the finest of margins deciding the result.

Despite the disappointment, Louie carried himself with maturity well beyond his years, competing against a very steady opponent and representing the junior section superbly. He did himself, and the whole FGC Juniors community, extremely proud.

This will no doubt be the first of many appearances for Louie in the gents’ championships in the years ahead — plenty more to come from him.

🎉 Progression Announcement — Outstanding from Blair Wooler

What a day Blair had yesterday. Not only did he win the Summer Shield 🏆, he also smashed his handicap down to single figures ⬇️, earning Junior/Senior status and is now eligible to compete in Gents Competitions 👏.

Add in his qualification for this weekend’s Junior Club Championship Final ⛳ and it’s been quite the weekend.

Blair puts a huge amount of work and effort into his golf and fully deserves every bit of this success.

Congratulations Blair — keep it going 💪.

🏌️‍♂️ FALKIRK GOLF CLUB – JUNIOR SUMMER SHIELD RESULTS 🏌️‍♀️
Sunday 7th June 2026

A brilliant day of junior golf across all three sections — Main Tour, Mini Tour, and Q‑School — with fantastic scoring, great effort, and real progress on show throughout the junior section.

Main Tour
Blair Wooler produced an excellent round to take the win, with strong challenges from both Cameron Gilchrist and Cameron Easton who kept the pressure on throughout. A really impressive showing from the older group, with plenty of confident ball‑striking on display.

Mini Tour
Max Gordon led the way with a superb performance. A special mention goes to young Elijah Hughes, who recorded the lowest scratch score in the division on his Mini Tour debut after recently stepping up from Q‑School. Brilliant to see this group developing consistency and growing in course awareness.

Q‑School
The closest battle of the day came from our newest golfers. Jack Johnson and Arran Reid couldn’t be separated on their final totals, with Jack edging it on the final‑three‑hole countback. Jack Reid wasn’t far behind either, rounding out a very competitive leaderboard. The improvement in this group week‑to‑week is fantastic to watch.
We also welcomed new players earning their first Q‑School handicaps today — well done to Milo Simpson, Ryan McDonald, and Sean Traynor.

A huge well done to every junior who took part, and thank you to all parents, carers, and taxi drivers who keep the momentum going as we head further into the summer.

Blair, Max, and Jack will receive their trophies at the end‑of‑year prizegiving. 🏆🏆🏆
