The response to our goalkeeper sponsorship competition was incredible. We received a huge number of entries, and the standard was exceptionally high.

There were so many deserving young goalkeepers, and choosing the winners was incredibly difficult. We loved reading the reasons behind every entry and hearing about the hard work, commitment and passion shown by local goalkeepers.

After plenty of discussion, we decided to sponsor not one but TWO goalkeepers-that’s how hard it was to choose. We are delighted to announce that our two J4K Falkirk sponsorship winners are:

🚫 Is this your warm-up?

Too often, goalkeepers are expected to warm up by standing in goal while a line of players fire shots at them.
The problem? That's not a warm-up—it's just making saves.

A goalkeeper warm-up should gradually prepare the body and mind for the demands of the game. Jumping straight into shots doesn't properly activate movement, handling, footwork, reactions, or decision-making. It can also increase injury risk and reduce confidence before kick-off.

A quality goalkeeper warm-up should include:
✅ Dynamic movement and mobility
✅ Footwork and handling
✅ Simple catching techniques
✅ Diving progressions
✅ Distribution
✅ Match-realistic actions with increasing intensity.

I usually keep content goalkeeper related, but with the inevitable post mortem of Scotlands World Cup, this is staggering.

The article highlights a 300% increase in let fees for a local club who have made football accessible to all. This has a knock on impact on kids, physically and mentally. Surely the council must realise if we have more kids using council facilities, it not only benefits the kids longer term but the council too? (Revenue, health benefits to kids, less anti social behaviour as kids engaged in healthy hobby)

For a councillor to imply that fees can’t be too high as pitches are full and there is a waiting list is mind boggling. That is not the win they feel it is-it simply highlights the chronic lack of facilities in the region (demand higher than supply). We truly are a backwater

But hey ho, football will be included in the 10 year review. Smashing. Can’t wait for the 2046 World Cup.
