The sports hall is a superb facility, currently underused by the local community and in need of improvement to create a fitting facility for the children, its sports club and the wider community.

Now that the Pitch is becoming a reality, we are keen to hear from anyone in the community who would like to use it. It might be that you are part of an existing club, or you want to use this opportunity to set up a new team or group. It might be that you want to know that there will be a chance to book it for you and your friends to have an informal game on a Saturday morning. This survey will allow you to express your interest as we want to ensure The Pitch provides diverse community use as well as meeting the training and playing needs of our partner clubs, FRFC and FYFC.

All-Weather Pitch Update

I am delighted to let you know that our bid for a grant of Community Infrastructure Funding from Cotswold District Council has been successful. We have been awarded over £700,000! This, alongside all the fundraising and community support, means that we are in touching distance of the dream becoming a reality. We are so grateful for all the support received from CDC and the local sports clubs and wider community to enable us to reach this point so quickly in just a year from starting the project.

More updates can be found on the project website here. https://pitchinfairford.co.uk/ We are looking to submit the planning application this month and hope to be able to commence building it later this year. We are still raising money for the spectator stand and equipment we will need, so all donations are welcome and there is a link on the website if you are able to support this.
The Pitch will be a game-changer not only for our students, but also for Fairford Youth Football Club and Fairford Rugby Club, who are our partners in this project. There will also be community use, so if you have a team or group of club that is currently short of facilities, do get in touch with me: [email protected].

Fantastic news! The Garfield Weston Foundation have today confirmed a grant for our project.

"Weston Family Trustees have reviewed your funding application and, after careful consideration, would like to offer your organisation a pledge of £35,000"

Project lead Emma White said "We are so grateful for this pledge of support that helps us towards raising the match funding to realise this wonderful community project. With our local pitches all but destroyed by the summer we have had, having an all-weather pitch for football, rugby and multisport use seems even more relevant and important."

On Friday our project lead Emma White visited Swindon Town FC Community Foundation's beautiful Foundation Park. Opened in 2020, it's a facility that not only benefits Swindon Town's community programmes but also countless out Clubs in the area. Thank you to Shane for arranging the visit and showing us just some of the benefits could enjoy from a similar facility.
