This weekend 50 years ago, Swedish pop icons ABBA were number 1 in the UK, Coventry City wore what would become known as "The Worst Football kit of all time" with their chocolate brown kit. A pint of milk cost 8.5p, Aston Villa stood at the top of the First Division, pursued by Bristol City and Liverpool.

Meanwhile in , played their first ever games. Fairford YFC U12 beat Ashton Keynes in a comfortable 5-0 victory. The Under 14s would kick off their campaign with an even more comprehensive victory, demolishing Crudwell 8-1 on Sunday 5th September 1976.

50 years later we continue to provide football for almost 300 boys and girls across the local area.

To every player to have worn the shirt, every volunteer who gave their time, to every parent, grand parent and family friend who gave their time to get kids to training and games, who stood in the wind and rain to support, thank you.

Thank-you for an amazing 50 years. Here's to the next 50. 👏👏👏

50 Years Ago Today:

The Club’s first match was played. An Under 12s match, played on Saturday 4th September 1976, with YFC beating Ashton Keynes in a comfortable 5-0 victory.

The weather looks good for our 2026 Pre-season social tonight. We're looking forward to welcoming you to Horcott Road from 6pm this evening.

Remember, registered 26-27 players eat FREE, with food, snacks and drinks also on sale.

We've got big plans to mark our anniversary during the coming season, starting on Friday night with our annual Pre-season social.

If you played for Fairford Youth at any time since the Club's birth in September 1976, we'd love to see you. Join us at Horcott from 6pm.
