A reflection on an incredible season for the Nomads from Team Manager Richie Guy👇🏽

2025/2026 season has been an incredible success for the Nomads, wining 12 matches and losing only two in the league. This enabled the mighty Nomads to win the East Devon Merit Table, beating several 2nd teams in the process. Our glorious warriors also reached the final of the Dave Butt Memorial Cup, losing out to a strong Devonport Services 3rd team in the final by a single try.
There have been so many highlights over the season, from embedding a plethora of 2nd year colts and giving them a taste of senior rugby, beating our local rivals Withycombe by 50 points and the legendary social events after the games. The Nomads are the bedrock of the Corinthian spirit at Exmouth Rugby club, with the emphasis on having fun, building friendships and memories on what is a short career as a rugby player. The Nomads new Captain Ross Mathews and manager Mike Watson both epitomise the Nomad spirit and will guide the team throughout 2026/2027.

The Nomads look forward to the new season with the usual enthusiasm towards preseason training, absolutely no chance of participating so they will all remain in a summer hibernation of Sun Sand and Cider until the first game when they traditionally awaken from their summer slumber to take on all comers.

A special thanks must go to Nick Smith and Harry Griffin for their tireless work at the club, the first team coaching staff of Matt and Ali for welcoming the Nomad players to training and putting up with questionable ball handling.

A reflection of this season from Colts Head Coach Alan Pyne👇🏽
So it’s been a great year for colts rugby at Exmouth.
Using over 40 players through the season is achievement enough, but managing to qualify for the top league only to get knocked out by Ivybridge in the final was an amazing achievement also.
The year ended with a fantastic tour to Ghent, in which the boys took part in much of the local culture,
aswell as winning a 16 team international tournament.
All in all the boys part company as great friends with the older ones going travelling around the world, or into further education or the real world of work, let’s hope they continue playing wherever they end up.
the younger lads however stay on and take their experience into next year, roll on 26/27 season.

Many of you will know Jaz from behind the bar. Right now, she’s taking on a huge challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of her dad Nick Tuckett— a true club legend who sadly passed away from cancer 2 years ago.

Jaz is doing the Big Hike to help raise money for cancer research and would really appreciate any support, whether that’s a donation or simply sharing her page.

Please support Jaz if you can💜

In 2023 me and my mum signed up to do the Jurassic Coast half marathon, and our story was very different. Dad had already been through a very tough time and still had one hell of a battle to go after having a diagnosis of lung cancer in both lungs. I was preparing to take on a challenge of a half ma...

A reflection of the season from Exmouth Women’s Head Coach Stef👇🏽
2025/26 was truly a season of firsts for the Exmouth Women. The most obvious of these, of course, was this season being the first league season the team played, but there were many other firsts across the year to recognise. There were first tries scored, first senior appearances, first captaincies and vice-captaincies, first awards won. There were first times playing new positions, with some even playing their first rugby games ever, first away trips and first home games. We saw the first usage of our new changerooms and facilities, first video analyses sessions, first 1:1’s and player IDP’s. There was even a first for me- it was my first year coaching here at Exmouth.

In only a few short months, this squad took huge steps forward, progressing significantly both as individuals as well as a team, putting in strong performances against opposition from established programs. Despite the challenges and a steep learning curve, the women posted wins against every team in the league, and finished second in the table. There were some standout performances, most notably Withycombe at home and Sidmouth away, where the on field performance reflected both the hard work put in at training, and the potential of this group.

Beginnings are exciting, full of newness and promise and firsts, and it can be easy to look at a fresh start and think that’s where it all began- but nothing good ever gets built without a strong foundation underneath it. The many firsts we were able to celebrate this season were built directly upon the hard work of many contributions made long before our first KO last fall. I would like to thank the many women who have played rugby at this club before this first league season, and the coaches who taught them, as well as the huge workforce behind the age grade programs in place here introducing so many young girls to rugby and preparing them for a lifelong love of the game, the countless administrators and organisers who gave untold volunteer hours to building and delivering the girls’ and women’s programs, and Exmouth RFC itself for supporting and investing in the women’s game. All of this seasons accomplishments are all of yours as much as they are anyone else’s- thank you.

If one should start the way one means to go on, I think the Exmouth Women have checked that box this season- and I’m looking forward to carrying on into 2026/27 with them.
