Since joining Stronger Together at the end of December, Jo has been a brilliant example of what can be achieved when you focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t.

After suffering a Grade 2 MCL tear in her knee last year, many people would have been nervous about getting back to training. Instead, Jo has been patient, consistent and committed to rebuilding her strength while continuing to improve her fitness.

The progress she’s made has been incredible:
🔥 90kg Deadlift
🔥 50kg Back Squat
🔥 70kg Barbell Hip Thrust for 10 reps
🔥 27.5kg Strict Press
🔥 30kg Barbell Lunges for 20 reps
🔥 200kg+ Sled Push

Jo is also responsible for the fastest Farmers Carry time of any Stronger Together client to date, covering 200 metres in just 1 minute 24 seconds over 10-metre shuttle lengths. That’s seriously impressive and shows just how fit and determined she is. ⚡

Away from the gym, Jo is an extremely talented runner with a Half Marathon PB of 1:33. As her rehabilitation has progressed, her running performances have continued to improve, and at the weekend she represented Devon and helped them secure victory over Cornwall.

What I admire most about Jo isn’t the numbers though.

It’s her attitude.

She turns up, works hard, gets stuck in, supports everyone around her and always brings plenty of laughs to coaching sessions. She’s resilient, positive and a pleasure to coach.

Considering everything she’s achieved while recovering from a significant knee injury, it’s exciting to think about what she’ll be capable of once she’s fully fit and firing on all cylinders.

Keep up the fantastic work, Jo 👏💪

This weekend was a bit different to my usual routine...

I spent the weekend at a 90s Reloaded weekender at Butlin's in Minehead for my Sister-in-law Caroline’s 40th with some family & great friends

Plenty of alcohol, plenty of rubbish food, not enough sleep and definitely not much thought given to hitting my protein target!

In fact, it's the first time I've had a drink since 20th December last year

Now, some people see health and fitness as having to be "all or nothing" all the time

I don't

Health isn't just about steps, calories, protein and gym sessions

It's also about spending time with people you enjoy being around, making memories, laughing until your face hurts and occasionally letting your hair down

Did I make progress towards my fitness goals this weekend?

Probably not

Did I have an amazing time?

Absolutely

And that's okay

One weekend doesn't undo months or years of good habits, just like one healthy meal doesn't suddenly transform your fitness

The key is what happens next

No guilt
No punishment workouts
No starving myself for the next week

Just straight back to the habits that got me where I am

I've been out for an easy 5km run today and tomorrow it's back to normal

Fitness should enhance your life, not stop you from living it

The goal isn't perfection

The goal is building habits that are strong enough to survive the occasional weekend off

Since joining Stronger Together in January, Annika has made brilliant progress with her strength, fitness and body composition

Annika’s fitness has improved massively, including taking an incredible 4 minutes off her 2000m Row time 🤯

Her strength has gone up hugely too:
🔥 Hip Thrust: 30kg → 120kg
🔥 Back Squat: 30kg → 60kg
🔥 Bench Press: 20kg → 35kg
🔥 Strict Press: 17.5kg → 30kg

On top of that, Annika has lost over 5kg of body fat while increasing her muscle mass, which shows just how consistent she’s been both in and out of the gym

But what really stood out in May was her attitude and consistency

She kept showing up week after week, and even when she couldn’t get to the gym, she didn’t use that as an excuse — she trained at home instead

She also got stuck into more of the Stronger Together community, coming along to the group bike ride at the start of May despite it being outside her comfort zone, attending Saturday HYROX sessions, and coming to her first Thursday night Endurance session

That willingness to stay consistent, try new things and push herself outside of her comfort zone is exactly why she’s so deserving of May Client of the Month

Annika is also supportive, encouraging and a great person to have in the group

Very well deserved — keep up the amazing work 👏🏻💪🏻

Very grateful that this is something I get to do for a living ❤️

Yes, helping people improve their strength, fitness & body composition is obviously a huge part of the job…

But honestly, the thing I enjoy most is seeing people completely change how they view themselves

Watching someone walk into their first session nervous, lacking confidence & doubting themselves…

and then months later seeing them lifting weights they never thought possible, running races, signing up for events, making friends & genuinely believing in themselves is incredibly rewarding

I’ve seen people go from:
➡️ Being terrified to step into a gym
➡️ Thinking they’re “not fit enough”
➡️ Saying they could never run
➡️ Saying they could never lift weights

…to doing things they genuinely never thought they’d be capable of

And the best part is it’s not just physical progress

It’s the confidence
The friendships
The mindset shifts
The support people give each other
The environment that gets built when like-minded people train together consistently

That’s what makes me genuinely love my job

Very grateful to everyone that trusts me enough to be part of their journey 🥰
