Topsham St James Cricket Club A friendly, community-based cricket club in Topsham, Devon. Tidball Insurance T20 Champions 2019.

We have 2 Adult Men's teams, a Women's team and a large Colts section with 150 children from Year 2 age upwards.

Just because the Summer Season has finished, doesn’t mean the Cricket stops!

Topsham Tides Women’s Softball are launching our first ever winter training sessions. We are running sessions in October and November at ISCA Academy on Friday nights between 6.30 and 7.30.

We are always on the lookout for new members! If you would like to come along and give it a go, please get in contact. All abilities and experience welcome!

Our last match of our inaugural softball cricket season - and what a fantastic one it was too!
All the players have learnt so much through our training sessions and friendly matches.

The team that faced Clyst St George carried that forward and narrowly missed out on a win by only 13 runs - it was a close & exciting last over, with the massive crowd on the edge of their seats !

We opened the batting and paired up into effective partnerships, gaining those little extra runs when we could.

A good number of 4’s during our innings and we only lost 2 wickets.

Our fielding was much improved too. Excellent bowling from Laura, and she even took a great catch when batted straight back at her.

We were tight in the field and cut down our over throwing. We took 2 more wickets from speedy fielding and stumping !

All in all fantastic performance from the team!

Thanks Jaya for rushing back from your holiday. Katie & Liz for missing hockey! Thanks to Jacob for standing in as our coach.

Player of the match goes to Laura- well done.

Unfortunately rain has affected both our 1st and 2nd team games this week so we are sad to say that league cricket is over for another year 😔

We would like to extend a massive thank you to all our Players, Coaches, Scorers, Umpires, Friends and Followers for another fantastic season of cricket that we have had this year!

It is not all doom and gloom today as we still have 1 final game of men’s cricket on Monday as we take on flamingocricketclub in our final friendly of the year

🏏 Match Results - Week 14 🏏

Here is how your shells did on Saturday!

A loss for our 1st XI against Bradninch and Kentisbeare CC - 2nd XI however 7 points gained and survival in D Division East secured! Highlights included 53 runs from Jacob Taylor, 40 runs from Matt Williams and 2-35 for Ahmed Shabaz

The 2s beat Ottery 3s by 9 wickets to set them up within spitting distance of 2nd place with one game to go, to hopefully ensure promotion. Highlights included 48 Runs from Jon Hull, 37 runs from Cam Daitz, 3-23 for Ellis Smalley & 2 wickets each for Alex Brown and Hugo Willcock.

Topsham Tides Womens Softball team played a friendly on Thursday night at neighbours Exwick, a return to their second ever match.

Topsham batted first after winning the toss on a sunny evening. There was lots of good batting on show with numerous stops on the boundary which were unlucky not to cross the ropes. The highlight of the batting innings was an excellent closing partnership of 34 by Katie and Rowan. This brought the total score to 327/5 off Topsham’s 20 overs.

Topsham Tides put in a great effort whilst bowling and fielding. With a few close run out opportunities and excellent fielding on boundary to restrict the hosts at times. Emma S got Topshams sole wicket with a brilliant dismissal in her second over. Unfortunately, the hosts batted well to surpass Topshams score and finish on 397/1 to win the game by 90 runs.

Player of the match goes to Liz who batted well for 10 runs and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket in her 2 overs.

Topsham Tides continue to learn their trade and gaining more match experience will only be a benefit looking forward. Topsham Tides finish their season with a friendly against Clyst St George on Tuesday 25th August.

The 1st XI are away against - 2nd XI , needing 1 point to ensure D Division Cricket next season.

Meanwhile the 2nd XI welcome - 3rd XI to the Uni Ground, looking to continue their promotion push.

Topsham Tides began their busy August schedule on the road at Whimple CC in a friendly on Thursday night which was set to be a hot evening. Topsham batted first and did so with great skill. Lots of fantastic batting with boundaries and plenty of runs over the 20 overs, with everyone showing more match experience. Topsham finished on a score of 299/6 which was a big improvement on our last match.

Whimple then batted in the second innings and showed their experience. Topsham bowled well and matched their opponents in terms of number of extras, with quite a few of the team bowling there first ever couple of overs in games.
Whimple batted really well to finish on 349/2 with captain Laura picking up a wicket on the last ball.

Player of the match goes to Emma L with a great display of batting with a couple of boundaries and her best bowling figures to date. It’s always very hard to choose as everyone is playing so well and improving with each game.

Topsham Tides are back in action in a weeks time with a rematch down at Exwick along with their final training session on Friday to round off the Summer season. With enthusiasm across the group so high, training is continuing in the winter on Fridays in October.
