Evesham United Football Club announces today that Chairman Ged Bearcroft has stepped down from his position. In a formal letter addressed to the board members, Ged expressed that while the decision was incredibly difficult, he feels his position has become untenable due to increasing commitments outside of the club.

Following the announcement, the club has confirmed that current Vice Chairman Mick Brennan will step up to serve as Interim Chairperson to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of leadership.

Ged originally stepped into the role following the departure of Chris Wright. Initially intending to fill the position on a temporary basis, he grew into the role and was subsequently voted back in as Chairman at the club's last AGM.

Reflecting on his tenure, Ged highlighted the significant achievements the club has enjoyed under his leadership, including promotion to Step 3 of the football pyramid and successfully securing a second consecutive year at that level. He also praised the fantastic progress of the ladies' team, the strength of the junior and disability sections, and the club’s vibrant community activities.

In his resignation statement, Ged expressed his profound gratitude to the club's network:

"Evesham United have a fantastic group of people, mainly volunteers who carry out a lot of hard work, and a very staunch group of supporters who travel up and down the country in support of the team. I would like to think I have grown a wonderful bond with these people.

To move forward, I believe the club needs someone who has more time to devote to the business, helping the club diversify and secure a strong position for the future. I personally cannot commit enough time; I need now to concentrate on my business and my employees."

Ged concluded his letter by offering his best wishes to the board and the club for their future endeavours, adding that he hopes to offer help to the club wherever he can moving forward.

Evesham United Football Club wishes to place on record its sincere thanks to Ged for his hard work, dedication, and the immense success achieved during his tenure as Chairman. The club wishes him the absolute best with his business and future undertakings, and welcomes Mick Brennan into his interim role as the club plans its next steps.

What are Reasonable Adjustments and does your child have them?

Under the Equality Act 2010, schools have a legal duty to make Reasonable Adjustments for disabled pupils. This applies even without an EHCP. 📚

These are not extras or privileges, they are legal entitlements for children with a disability. A school cannot apply a blanket policy that discriminates against your child.

❓ Have you asked your child's school what reasonable adjustments are in place? If not, now is a great time to start that conversation.

02/06/2026

⚠️ Is your child's school refusing to make reasonable adjustments?

We hear from so many parents who have been told "we don't have to do that" or "that's not our policy" and it can feel like you're hitting a brick wall at every turn.

But here's the truth. Under the Equality Act 2010, schools have a LEGAL duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled pupils. That includes children with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other neurodevelopmental or mental health conditions, with or without a diagnosis, with or without an EHCP.

And crucially, the Equality Act overrides school policy. A school cannot hide behind its attendance policy or its "usual approach" if doing so puts your disabled child at a disadvantage. 💛

The next time you're in a meeting, try asking this one question:

👉 "What reasonable adjustments have been considered or made under the Equality Act 2010?"

Write it down. Put it in an email afterwards. And if you're not getting answers, reach out to us here at SEND-Empowerment to get free support and advice.
