White Horse FC 2-3 Etwall Rangers FC

Rangers secured an opening day victory thanks to a last minute penalty from stand in manager for the day Scott Wyllie.

It was a slow start from Etwall but they took the lead when Gibbins cross field ball found Berry-Hopkins on the right who beat 3 players before slotting past the helpless keeper.

It was 2 when a short corner found Greatorex who dribbled past the onrushing defender before finding the net via a big defection.

There were further chances for O'Donnell , Chandler and Gibbins to increase the lead but it remained 2-0 at HT.

A twice taken penalty got White Horse back in the game, James 'Marlon' Earp saving the 1st before a retake was harshly ordered for encroachment. Wyllie received a sin bin for his protestations.

It was backs to the wall for 10 man Etwall for most of the 2nd half with the visitors playing on the break. White Horse equalised late on and had a golden chance to win it but it was squandered.

With time ticking away White Horse gifted the returning Wyllie a golden chance after trying to play out from the back. He was hauled to the ground with a tackle barely fit for rugby, let alone football, by the keeper. Wyllie turned from villain to hero as he stepped up to give Rangers the win.
