⚽️ SCHOOL SPORT IS UNDER THREAT ⚽️
For nearly 30 years, I’ve dedicated my life to helping children through sport.
I’ve seen first-hand the confidence it builds, the friendships it creates, the life lessons it teaches, and the positive impact it has on physical and mental wellbeing.
Now, with changes to school sport funding, many schools may be forced to reduce the support they can provide through external coaching companies and sports providers.
This doesn’t just affect businesses.
It affects coaches who have spent years inspiring young people.
It affects schools and teachers who are already under enormous pressure.
Most importantly, it affects the children.
The children who need positive role models.
The children who need opportunities to be active.
The children who find confidence through sport.
The children who simply need someone to believe in them.
For many young people, a coach is much more than someone who teaches sport. They are mentors, role models, trusted adults and often the person who brings the best out of them.
At a time when we’re being told we need to tackle childhood obesity, improve wellbeing and encourage healthier lifestyles, reducing opportunities for children to participate in sport feels like a step backwards.
Winger Sports Academy will continue to fight, adapt and do everything possible to support schools and children.
But many fantastic providers across the country are facing an uncertain future.
School sport isn’t a luxury.
It’s an investment in our children’s future.
💙 If you believe every child deserves access to quality sport and physical activity, please share this post.
