We are excited to announce that Tri-City Thunder Sports Association has been selected by Canadian Tire Jumpstart to receive a grant from their Sport Relief Fund.
The fund helps community sport organizations, like ours, continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian kids. This grant will go a long way towards continuing to operate through the pandemic in a safe manner.
This past year has been very challenging for organizations and families around the world. Tri-City Thunder, securing permits during the pandemic has been quite difficult and a lot more expensive than what we were normally used to paying for the season. The Sport Relief Grant is now having the ability to give back to the athletes in the organization and covering the cost of the fees for the gym time being used before lockdown. Furthermore, the Tri-City Thunder Board of Directors are looking to start a Jumpstart fund with any remaining money to contribute each year to help athletes that may not be able to afford to play the sport they love!
Secondly, the Directors and Coaching staff been able to participate and complete the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders Program and the Keeping Girls in Sport Program Modules. These modules have been able to help the organization continue to offer programming to athletes in a safe and fun manner, while being respectful to all members involved in the sport.
Finally, due to the grant, the Tri-City Thunder Sports Association has been able to purchase equipment and personal protective equipment for staff and athletes for the upcoming season.
Jumpstart - Thank you so much for keeping sport going in the province of Ontario and allowing clubs like Tri-City Thunder to continue to stay afloat during this hard time. We are BEYOND grateful to be selected as a recipient of the Sport Relief Fund and know the positive impact it will have on sport and recreation organizations, and ultimately, on kids across the country!
