Something I get asked a lot is what makes Pilates different from other exercise methods.
One of many reasons is that most traditional exercise β think squats, deadlifts, running, cycling β works predominantly in one plane of movement. Forward and back. But our body is actually designed to move in three different planes of motion, forward and back, yes, but also sideways or twisting.
Pilates trains across all three planes of movement in every class, which means the muscles that support everyday life, like picking something up, twisting, reaching, and bending, get trained too.
The result is more functional strength, better posture, enhanced movement patterns and a body that holds up well in real life.
