Lincolnshire Junior Cup Round 2
Epworth Town Colts AFC vs Nettleham Reserves
Epworth Town Colts AFC put on a dominant display to secure their place in the third round of the Lincolnshire Junior Cup with a convincing 7-1 victory over Nettleham Reserves.
The game started with Epworth on the front foot, and it wasn’t long before they took the lead. Brad Croxall opened the scoring with a powerful header, perfectly set up by a pinpoint corner from Dylan Masterson. The same result from another set piece came shortly after, with Joey Jackson heading home another well delivered corner from Masterson to make it 2-0.
Epworth continued to press, and the third goal came from Masterson himself. After a controlled take on the left wing, he cut inside and curled a superb shot inside the back post, extending the lead to 3-0. Soon after, a quick counterattack led to Epworth’s fourth, as substitute Blackburn aput ball across the box resulting in a scramble with Kieran McCarthy there to poke the ball over the line.
The fifth goal saw McCarthy again involved as he picked out Blackburn with a slick through ball. Blackburn rounded the keeper with ease to slot home. Joe Bartlett added the sixth, slipping behind the defense to roll the ball into the far corner, leaving Nettleham struggling to keep up.
Nettleham managed a consolation goal from a loose ball in midfield, capitalised by a spectacular long-range strike that left the keeper rooted, bringing the score to 6-1.

Epworth had the final say. In the dying moments, some neat build-up play from the left culminated in a well-timed pass behind the defense, where Masterson drove forward and rifled a shot into the back of the net, sealing an emphatic 7-1 win.
A well-deserved victory for Epworth Town Colts, who now go back into the hat for the third-round draw.
