Run by Pole Rocks, Maddy. Our Pole classes are exciting and energetic, often finding you don’t feel like you have worked out until the next day! Pole helps you completely transform your body and helps you gain confidence from toning up, losing weight and from having the continuous support from the Pole Rocks team and students. Our focus is on our students and spreading our passion for pole. Our talented Instructors train weekly, and Pole Rocks is well known for our strong students. The classes have an incredible atmosphere which is built by having some great instructors but also having some fantastic members who like any beginner start without strength and many without confidence. We encourage and support our students to keep working hard and always focus on their own development and what their goal is. All our students are incredibly supportive of one another and there are no egos within our studios. Pole Rocks will continue to give top quality teaching and fun well planned lessons for our students. The Epsom studio is the First by Maddy with the assistance of our amazing Pole Rocks Team. We haven't seen you in a while and we're really missing you. It's mid-Jsnuary and we thought we'd be back by now! But, in the mean time...

It has to be a toss up between a Contortion Scorpio and an Iron X

2- My favourite pole inspirations…
Jade Bensilum and Sam Holden - two amazing pole dancers in their own ways and huge inspirations for myself as a pole dancer and teacher!

3- How long have you been doing pole for?
It’ll be 2 and a half years at the end of this year.

4- What is your nemesis move?
Superman- I can do it - it looks beautiful but I just hate the feeling on my skin haha!

5- My favourite Disney character…
All of them - I am a Disney Princess after all 🧜🏻‍♀️👸🏼

For those of you wondering why a few of our online classes with the wonderful Chelsy Vaney have disappeared this week, never fear, we still have fantastic alternatives for you! 💛

Wednesday's Headwhips and Heels class is no longer available. But why not try Chelsy's amazing Choreography class at 6pm at Reigate in Studio 1 - suitable for all levels? 🥰

The Saturday B***y Builder ONLINE class at 10.45am has also gone for now, but this is available at 5pm on Thursdays. ☺️ OR book it and request a recording by email to [email protected] - and do it Saturday anyway (or any time you like in the following 7 days) !!! 🥰

9.30am Needlescales on Saturdays is on the ONLINE timetable as usual so make sure you book your space and have fun with your flexibility! 💙

I know it's been a bit of a blow not to come back yet, but we will. It's been lovely to see so many of you still carry on pole at home though.

And we're still here waiting patiently to leap into action and bring you back too

Today's 'Meet the team' is the brilliant person we have behind the social media! Oh, that's me!!!! 🤣 And yes, I do also do pole.

So in the height of this last lockdown I sat down with myself and asked all those same questions I've put to the others on the team... it's a bit long. Sorry not sorry!

1. My favourite pole moves are Ankle release and cupid - still love a Butterfly, but it's been a bit hit and miss for me.

2. My favourite pole inspirations are our Polerocks and My Body Rocks instructors. I'm not just sucking up. They are all just genuinely lovely people and their knowledge is immense! Take Emily ( ) - she can teach, pole fitness, stretch, hoop, conditioning, pole flow and choreography - I know I'm missing something here! She knows about all the geeky muscle and mobility things like nerve glides and she's great on injury prevention and rehabilitation.

I also have to give a shout out to .holden - the owner of Polerocks. Her ability to just deal with more and more is immense. She's caring and generous. She looks after her own whenever she can. And her vision for her studios is just amazing. So many would have given up at the first hurdle, but Sam keeps running at it until she achieves what she wants. It's been a hard year for her, but I know 2021 will be better for her and for all of us. I can't wait to see you where Polerocks and My Body Rocks goes next.

3. How long have you been doing pole for?
I've just had my 3 year pole-iversary. 😁

4. My nemesis moves are superman, handspring, dragontail. They're horrid, but one day I will master all of them!!! 🤣

5. My favourite Disney character is Moana - she has the best song! 😁 Or… are Marvel now part of Disney? If so… Guardians of the Galaxy is my absolute favourite and it's got to be Gamora! I wish my hair would stay that red. Not sure I'd want to be green though. But her outfits would look amazing on the pole!!!! 😄

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Unfortunately, we have taken the decision not to reopen this year.

We have not made this decision lightly and are obviously gutted to be giving you this news. Our plans are to come back stronger in the New Year (January, Government permitting) when we have had time to prepare for a safe opening.

Now for the good news!
Our Reigate studio will be opening this week and we will continue running online classes too. So if you are desperate for your fix, download the Glofox App, search My Body Rocks and get yourself booked on!

It's so important that we continue to support Sam and her business to make sure it's all still here for you next year. Things have been tough having been closed for over half the year. We thank you for keeping us afloat so far and for your continued support. Message from Emily Dodd, Head Instructor

Happy Monday People! Give yourself a hug 🥰

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do”.

Self love is a bid thing in my eyes and something I used to 1) not know what it was and 2) Didnt do it.

This lockdown 2.0, therapy and have really helped me understand and make personal boundaries and fully love myself and actually look after myself instead of just running around like a headless chicken.

What is Self love??

Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. Self-love means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness. Self-love means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve.

Self-love can mean something different for each person because we all have many different ways to take care of ourselves. Figuring out what self-love looks like for you as an individual is an important part of your mental health.

I encourage you to do something everyday that makes you feel good and does some good for you. Some examples- reading a good book, meditation for mindfulness, eating some fruit or veg, drinking your water, doing some colouring or having a relaxing bath with a good film 💜

Be kind to yourself and others 🥰 Have a great week!

So for today's 'Meet the team' we have Beca, our favourite admin person. She's the one that makes sure you get booked into class each week. And she'll be in touch shortly (we hope) when lockdown is over and we can open again! 😁

I asked Beca the same questions as the others. Here are her answers...

1) My favourite move is Stargazer

2) My favourite pole inspiration is Maria Mandak, one of the Reigate students. She has the most commitment and perseverance I have ever seen in one person. I have never known anyone to work as hard as her.

3) How long have you been doing pole for?
7 years on and off due to operations.

4) What is your nemesis move?
There are 3. Crucifix - I let go with my legs as soon as I let go with my hands). Knee release (fell off and never again). Martini - catches a nerve in my underknee. 🤢

5) My favourite Disney character is Belle. She is a woman who goes against society and its beliefs of behaviour and love!

In these strange times it's important to keep in touch. Seeing different familiar faces is important. I know I miss just seeing people.

So here's a friendly face for you... today's 'Meet the team' is our lovely Laura!

I put the same questions to Laura that I asked the rest of the team and here are her answers.

- My favourite pole move is a bridged handstand

- My favourite pole inspiration is definitely the girls; they all truly inspire me. They are all so amazing and their confidence inspires me every week to be less fearful. Thursdays are my favourite day of the week, without fail! I know we always have a laugh and so much fun together. I love how supportive the girls are and love being there for them too and seeing everyone grow.

- How long have you been doing pole for?
4 years

- My nemesis move is an extended butterfly - still! 🙄 It really scares me even though it’s something I should be able to do by now.

- My favourite Disney character is Moana - she’s adventurous and has a connection with the sea. I love travelling and being in the water. (I wish I was her 😭)

I'm sure you're missing the team as much as they're missing you, but hopefully not for too much longer!
