Saturday the 30th of September saw the first "Langman Cup" which even by our standards was an amazingly successful day.
Champagne and oyster bars lined the sides of the pitch along with all manner of other food and drink, classic cars, racing cars, and all kinds of fun going on.
The day began with the curtain raiser race between a classic racing car, and a polo pony.
with the suspense palpable,, the horse came out the winner in a drag race of 150yrds.
Then it was on to the main game for the Langman cup, between the home Epsom polo club team of,
Kate eadie
Jason mcreight
Charlotte solanet (Langman)
And Ryan Anderson.
Vs the Hac team of,
Will shadbolt
Julian bowman
Louise brown
And Lucy bowman.
The match was a great spectacle of end to end polo, with the players pulling out all the stops for victory.
In the end and fittingly for the day, with Roy looking down on us all, his daughter charlotte solanet (Langman) stole the show for her team, scoring 3 goals and making some wonderful saving plays, to help her team to victory, ably supported by her strong and well mounted team mates..
Then an amazing raffle, where all manner of awesome and ridiculous prizes were won by the lucky visitors, including, classic guitars, all kinds of booze and depravity, and a holiday to Barbados!.
Then to bring the day to a close, the second part of the Langman cup, was staged between 3 teams in a round robin format.
The teams of,
Veridis and co,
Stephanie Phizackerly/Sarah brown
Jean baptist Solanet
Tina Taylor
Callum Anderson.
Joyce Guinness,
Lisa knight
Justin Taylor
Scott Anderson
Ryan Anderson
Artumes and co,
Helen Tillman/nick palmer
Jason turner
Izzy Gathercole

Battled out for victory. The hundreds of spectators were treated to 3 great matches. producing a great spectacle, with long range goals, cunning play, and tactical genius showed by all the players.
In the end the artumes and co team emerged victorious by half a goal over veridis and co..
The presentation was an equally joyful, champagne showered, hysteria.. and the fantastic prizes, a theme of the day, were well received by all!..
On a personal note, we would like to extend our humblest gratitude to everyone who donated prizes, presents for the raffle. Photographers and commentators, and to all the players who participated in making the whole day such a great success,, And to our wonderful equine technicians who ran the pony strings like clockwork throughout the day..
We'll see you all next year x
