Family Fun Day Announced for Annual Fermanagh Supercup as Michael Kerr Cup Is Launched.
The Fermanagh Supercup Organisation is delighted to announce the introduction of a Family Fun Day at this year’s Annual Fermanagh Supercup tournament, reinforcing the event’s strong community focus and family‑friendly atmosphere.
The Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday 20th June 2026 at the Devenish College Complex, Tempo Road, Enniskillen (BT74 4GA).
Kick‑off for matches is scheduled for 11:00am, with presentations taking place at approximately 3:00pm, providing a full day of football and entertainment for all ages.
This year’s tournament also marks a major milestone with the launch of the Michael Kerr Cup, which will be contested alongside the long‑established Gary Bownes Cup. The introduction of the new competition after a fantastic proposal by long serving treasurer Bernie Darcy honors two outstanding footballers and exemplary individuals whose impact on the Fermanagh Supercup and the wider football community remains profound.
The Michael Kerr Cup will be held annually in memory of Michael Kerr, one of the most respected personalities to have represented the Fermanagh Supercup, who sadly passed away in 2025. The Committee is proud to ensure his legacy lives on through the tournament, alongside that of the late Gary Bownes.
The Gary Bownes Cup will continue as the tournament’s premier competition, while the Michael Kerr Cup will now serve as the official title for the Junior tournament.
Director of Football Shane McCabe welcomed the announcement:
“I am absolutely delighted to launch the Michael Kerr Cup as a lasting tribute to a long‑standing friend and a fantastic football person. Michael gave so much to the game and to the Fermanagh Supercup, and it means a great deal to see his legacy recognised in this way.”
Donna Kerr added - "As a family, we are incredibly proud to see Michael’s name and legacy honored in this way. He loved football and everything the Fermanagh Supercup stood for, community, friendship and passion for the game, so it is very special for us to know he will continue to be part of it. We would encourage everyone to come along, support the day, and enjoy what promises to be a fantastic occasion"
Chairman Ernie Conlon also paid tribute to the late Gary Bownes and confirmed a special sponsorship initiative for this year’s event:
“I was fortunate to share many fantastic memories with Gary Bownes. I am delighted to announce that Gary’s historic Ballinamallard team from the 2002/2003 season will sponsor this year’s Players of the Tournament awards, which adds even more meaning to the occasion.”
County teams Tyrone, Armagh and Antrim will compete across both senior and junior levels, ensuring a high standard of football throughout the day at the Devenish College complex.
McCabe added:
“It would be great to see a strong turnout from across the community to support this event this year and beyond. This tournament is about celebrating football, community, and remembering two exceptional individuals who gave so much to the Supercup.”
The Fermanagh Supercup Committee warmly invites players, families, supporters and the wider public to attend and be part of a memorable day of football and community, paying tribute to two of the finest Supercup players and valued members of the local football family.
