What a fantastic evening we enjoyed on Sunday in the beautiful Manor House Hotel as players, coaches, parents and supporters came together to celebrate our 2026 Fermanagh SuperCup NI journey.
The night wasn’t just about reflecting on an incredible week at the tournament. It was an opportunity to recognise the dedication, commitment and sacrifices made throughout the entire 7-month journey that brought us there. The respect and gratitude shown by the players towards their coaches, and equally by the coaches towards their players, was a fitting reminder of what makes this group so special.

A massive thanks to this management crew for the last 6/7 months. The effort hunger and desire to make the boys better was unquestioned. They enjoyed the ups downs and sideways of a supercup rollercoaster week but they are a credit to work with and without them the week and successes the players had would not have happened - a big thanks to all from Supercup committee - 2027 🤪🤪🤔🤔

SuperCup NI 2026: A Journey We’ll Never Forget

As the dust settles on another unforgettable SuperCup NI, it is hard to put into words just what this journey has meant to everyone involved. What began over six months ago as a process of planning, preparation, training sessions and fundraising became a week filled with memories that will last a lifetime.

There were wins, losses and draws. There were moments of joy, disappointment, pride and determination. There were friendships strengthened, new connections made, and more than a few questionable haircuts acquired along the way! But above all else, there was a shared experience that brought together players, coaches, families, sponsors and supporters in a way that only football can.

The Juniors grew into a formidable team as the tournament progressed. Performances against top-class opposition showed just how far the boys had come. Victories over Charlton Athletic and Danish side FC Helsingør, alongside a superb draw against Tottenham Hotspur, were highlights that demonstrated both quality and character. The confidence, teamwork and resilience shown throughout the week were a credit to every player who pulled on the Fermanagh shirt.

For the Premiers, the unforgettable drama of Armagh on Monday will live long in the memory of everyone fortunate enough to witness it. It was one of those SuperCup days that seemed to have everything and, despite all that followed throughout the week, it will remain a special chapter in the story of this group. The boys faced some extremely difficult challenges in Kamimura, Sunderland and Intercontinental which were outstanding opposition, suffering a number of tough defeats. Yet what stood out most was their spirit. They never gave up, never stopped competing and continued to support one another through every high and low. The bond formed within this squad is something truly special and will endure long after the final whistle has blown.

The tournament, however, is about much more than results. It is about shared breakfasts before games, bus journeys full of laughter, dressing rooms filled with excitement, meeting teams from around the world, and creating memories that players and families will talk about for years to come. These experiences help shape young people far beyond football and remind us all why the SuperCup remains such a special competition.

A heartfelt thank you must go to all our sponsors, supporters and families. Your generosity, encouragement and commitment made this experience possible. Whether through financial support, attending matches, helping with logistics, fundraising, or simply being there to cheer the boys on, your contribution has been invaluable. You are every bit as much a part of this journey as those on the pitch.

Special recognition must also go to our managers and coaches. Over the past six months, they have devoted hundreds of voluntary hours to these teams. They have balanced family commitments, professional careers and their own personal time, all with one goal in mind: providing the best possible experience for these young players. Their dedication, patience and passion have helped create memories that will stay with this group forever, while also helping develop better footballers and, more importantly, better young people.

Finally, thank you to everyone at SuperCup NI for once again delivering a fantastic tournament. The organisation, hospitality and opportunities provided for young players remain second to none, and we are immensely grateful to be part of such a special competition.

For now, it is time for a well-earned rest and a chance to recharge the batteries after an incredible week that was the culmination of six months of hard work. The memories, friendships, laughs, achievements, challenges, connections and experiences created during SuperCup NI 2026 will remain with us all for many years to come.

The football may be over for another year, but the stories will continue to be told, the friendships will remain, and the memories of SuperCup NI 2026 will live long in the hearts of everyone involved.

Fermanagh Juniors 3-1 Charlton Athletic

Written off by many as they entered what was widely regarded as the "Group of Death", Fermanagh Juniors faced the mighty Charlton Athletic knowing that few outside the camp gave them much chance after two difficult opening defeats. However, what followed was a display of heart, hunger, courage and determination that will live long in the memory of everyone associated with Fermanagh football. Led out by Zach Follis as a leader in many ways but injury preventing his participation on the field and what a miss he has been as he is a fantastic player in the making.

Every single player deserves immense credit for a historic victory and performance that those on the pitch, in the dugout and on the sidelines will remember for many years to come.
From the first whistle, the tempo was set by the outstanding Danny McCormick-McDonald, whose relentless work ethic and desire inspired those around him. Alongside him, Brody O'Hagan, Alfie McCabe and Aidan McGrath flew into tackles while showing remarkable composure whenever Fermanagh had possession. Their intensity appeared to unsettle the opposition, who were expecting a very different challenge.

In midfield, Henry McNiece and Ollie McClaren were immense. Both worked tirelessly to break up attacks and dominate the midfield battle, giving Fermanagh the platform they needed to compete with one of the tournament favourites.
Having failed to find the net in their previous matches, the breakthrough finally arrived and it came amid absolute madness in the Charlton penalty area. Following relentless pressure from Fermanagh, the ball bounced and ricocheted around the box as players battled desperately for every loose touch. When the opportunity finally presented itself, the youngest player on the pitch, Alfie McCabe, reacted quickest. Showing composure well beyond his years, he pounced on the loose ball and rifled it into the net to spark scenes of sheer delight. The celebrations that followed spoke volumes, with players, coaches, supporters and even one football director who may have pulled a hamstring sprinting to join in. After all the hard work put in by this group throughout the week, the relief and joy were there for everyone to see.

At the back, Fermanagh continued to impress. The dependable partnership of Tom Maguire and Eryk Fikiel looked as solid as ever, while Noah Welsh produced an excellent display at right-back and Oisín McGahey was equally impressive on the left.

Charlton inevitably responded and were awarded a penalty which, on reflection, appeared to be the correct decision. The spot-kick was converted to leave the sides level at 1-1 at half-time.
Many expected Charlton's quality to take over in the second half, but Fermanagh had other ideas.

The introductions of Nathan Beacom and Ronan Kane provided fresh energy, composure and belief. Both players immediately made an impact and helped drive the team forward at a crucial stage of the contest.

With Fermanagh continuing to battle for every ball, Beacom collected possession in a pocket of space and produced a pass that many players would neither see nor attempt. Sliding the ball perfectly into the path of McCormick-McDonald, Danny took it in his stride before coolly slotting home to put Fermanagh ahead.
2-1 Fermanagh. Surely this wasn't in the script!
Further substitutions added fresh momentum. Dominijas Churinas, Caolan McCullion and Jack Goan all entered the action and immediately helped push Charlton backwards. Goan's intelligent movement and running caused problems throughout, while Beacom continued to pull the strings with his vision and creativity.
The decisive moment arrived when Goan chased what seemed a lost cause and earned a penalty. Up stepped the striker himself and he confidently converted to spark scenes of absolute mayhem among the travelling support.
3-1 Fermanagh!
With victory now within touching distance, the defensive unit stood firm. Maguire, McGahey and Fikiel threw themselves into every header and tackle as though their lives depended on it, while goalkeeper Caiden Mulligan produced another assured performance full of composure and maturity. Carter Thompson was introduced late on and played his part in helping see out a famous victory.
There was even time for one final opportunity, as another sublime pass from Beacom released Goan, only for the Charlton goalkeeper to produce an excellent save.

Man of the Match
On another day, this award could have gone to six or seven different players. From the youngest squad member Alfie McCabe to the ever-reliable Tom Maguire, every player played their part. Aidan McGrath once again demonstrated why the coaching staff regard him as the heartbeat of the team, while McNiece, McLaren and Welsh all delivered outstanding performances. The contributions of Beacom and Goan from the bench ultimately changed the game and highlighted the strength and character within the squad.
However, the award goes to Danny McCormick-McDonald.
Danny produced a complete performance combining quality, hunger, leadership and determination. He led by example from the first whistle to the last, inspiring those around him and capping his display with a superb goal. When he performs like this, he is a player to watch and a leader whom this group greatly admires.

After the disappointment of the opening two days, these young players produced one of the most memorable results in recent Fermanagh SuperCup history. They showed resilience, belief and togetherness against one of English football's most respected academies. Against all expectations, they rose to the occasion and delivered a performance full of courage and character.
A day that will live long in the memory of everyone connected with Fermanagh football. 💚⚽🏆
