3 hours of free sparring with whatever you want, we’ll have some limited equipment to borrow.

Guests welcome but you must have HEMA insurance.

For something a little different this semester we’ve brought out the montantes!

Yesterday we looked at how to manage opponents in a narrow ages a somewhat narrow alley. Lots of thrusts and some cuts in a tight environment against multiple opponents.

As a gift for becoming Scholars at Longpoint each student is given a Scholar patch and wristband to denote their achievements.

Hopefully you will see the patches on their jackets accompanied by a Leicester Longpoint patch at events in future!

Our main focus is Ringeck (with some Danzig) Longsword which is what their Scholar Award was on, so what better than having a little photoshoot with the fantastic Pieces of Ringeck book.

We want to say a massive thank you to our guest instructors Giles from Coventry Longpoint and George from School of Historical Combat who came along to help assess our Scholar Award.

We didn’t want our Scholar Award to be completely internal and we knew we wanted to test our students ideas around the sources without being stuck in one box is correct. So what better way than getting instructors from other clubs in the midlands to assess those ideas in a theoretical and practical way!

Our scholars (and our other students) got to test their skills at the end of the session by sparring each instructor one after the other ⚔️

What a fantastic night and we can’t wait to do it again in future!

We’ve been working behind the scenes for a while on a way of progression within the club. A way for our students to be able to distinguish who’s been here long enough to know their stuff.

We finally put it into place and even better at our 5th birthday celebration 🎉

We’re had 10 of our students go through the Scholar Award to prove their knowledge and technical ability against every one in the club.

Congratulations to our new Scholars! We look forward to many more years of hema with you all and finding our future scholars ⚔️

Anyone who won a game got to help themselves to a chocolate or sweet 🍫 🍬

It was still really hot in our hall and the students worked hard playing games but even more so for the ones in full kit 🥵

Another fantastic Longpoint birthday session last night 🎂 Celebrating our 5th birthday as a club in a place not just in a back garden.

Wonderful turn out by our members with an extra special part you’ll see in another post.
