Without putting too much info on here, there is somewhere fairly local that is setting up a ‘screen led’ Pilates reformer studio.
Put your headphones on, pick a class, and off you go.
To say I am utterly disgusted, angry, and scared of the injuries this will inevitably cause, is an understatement.
If you want to learn Pilates, especially large equipment Pilates such as the reformer, please, please, please, find a reputable teacher and studio!
An ‘in person’ studio! Where a teacher has eyes on you!
As a teacher we undertake hundreds, if not thousands, of hours training for a reason!
Our continuing profession development is just that- continual! Each and every day I’m learning. From my clients, reading, courses, and several hours per week attending my own Pilates classes.
You need a teacher to help keep you working safely on a reformer. To watch how you move, correct your alignment, to ensure you get the most from this amazing method!
If you choose to have a home reformer, that’s your decision. And if there is a teacher present at these screen led sessions for safety reasons, then I’d feel slightly better about it. But only marginally.
I need to stop ranting. I hope I’ve made my point 🤦‍♀️

So yesterday, I saw a young lady who had ‘won’ a session with me in a raffle. I often donate if I’m asked to.
She had a complex medical history, and specifically wanted reflexology, which as you know I’m currently taking a break from. Her conditions are debilitating, both physically and mentally.
As I couldn’t offer reflex, or even 1:1 Pilates, (she’s too unwell for that at the moment) I suggested that I gave her equivalent in Tropic products. She politely declined, and asked me to help her in whatever way I could.
We did a MELT hand and foot guided session, and discussed lifestyle, nutrition, and how to help her nervous system deal with her stress levels. She then purchased some MELT kit from me, to continue her self care at home. Her request. Not mine.
Why am I posting this? Because today’s society usually want a quick fix. To take a pill. Blame other people/circumstances.
Yesterday showed me that there are still people who want to help themselves. I really wish that lady the best going forward. Despite feeling like crap, she wants to help herself and be the best version of herself.
Best of all, she left with a smile on her face and was enthusiastic about her health journey going forward.
That was payment enough for me 🥰

Over the years, my work as a Dental Hygienist, Pilates instructor, MELT instructor and reflexologist has always been about one thing, helping you feel good in your body.

Reflexology has been such a special part of my business and I’ve loved the conversations, friendships, and the trust you’ve placed in my hands. However, due to ongoing arthritis in my thumbs, I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from offering reflexology treatments.

It was a tough, emotional decision, and those I'm close to know I have shed tears over it. But, as I always encourage you to listen to your own body, I know I need to listen to mine too.

As one door closes, another opens. And me being me, I'm constantly on the search for knowledge, tools, and products that can enhance my own wellbeing as well as yours. I’m pleased to share that I’m now a Tropic Skincare ambassador. This is a path I never thought I'd venture down! But I see it as a natural extension of supporting your wellbeing from the outside as well as the inside.

Unfortunately Im laid up with a bad bout of Covid! I’m a bit late popping something on here as my days are blending into each other this week 😆

It’s also a little late for chocolates and roses, (actually, no it’s not 🫣) but it’s never too late to show your body some love 🧘‍♀️
