FUNK ODYSSEY HALLOWEEN PARTY NIGHT

This Halloween, Funk Odyssey are bringing their infectious mix of live disco, funk, soul and classic dance-floor favourites to Ely City Golf Club.

Expect a feel-good night of music from across the decades, performed completely live by five talented musicians who know how to keep a dance floor moving.

Still deciding on Sunday lunch? Here’s a little reminder from the clubhouse… 🍽️⛳

𝐀 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 ⛳

If Sunday lunch plans are still up in the air, consider this your gentle nudge from our air conditioned clubhouse.

Roast dinners are served this Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, with all the trimmings, relaxed views across the course and no washing up afterwards. Always a decent result with main courses at just £15.95 still.

We’re also now open later on Wednesdays and Thursdays, serving until 8.30pm. Ideal after a round, after work, or for an easy evening meal locally.

Members, family, friends and non-members are all welcome.

𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐩.

A delivery driver accidentally damaged the fibre cable supplying our telephone lines and broadband earlier this morning while reversing along the front of the clubhouse. As a result, our normal communications are currently restricted.

A temporary setup has been installed using a SIM‑based router, and all calls are being diverted to my mobile phone. During this period, it may be difficult to answer every call immediately or respond to emails as quickly as usual, but we are doing everything we can to operate effectively under these circumstances.

A BT engineer is scheduled to attend tomorrow afternoon. We are hopeful that full service will be restored shortly, though this temporary arrangement may need to remain in place until early next week.

Friday 19th June saw golfers from near and far come together for our Captains’ Charity Day AMAM event, raising funds for Cambridge Children’s Hospital and Men’s Minds Matter.

The weather was certainly challenging, with temperatures defying the time of year, but there were still some excellent scores in spite of the heat.

A huge thank you to all members who contributed to the halfway house refreshments, and to Yvonne Thresh, Tina Forbes and John Smith for serving welcome drinks and sweet and savoury snacks throughout the competition.

Thank you also to everyone who donated to the Bottles and Balls raffle, and to Philip Ambrose for running the auction of 4-ball vouchers, both of which helped raise valuable funds for our chosen charities.

The midsummer weekend continued on Sunday 21st with 70 people taking part in Garish Golf. The winning team was Perri Crowder, Stephen Tuck, Jordan Chambers and Thomas Williams.

The winners of the most garish team were Tina Broadley, Tina Forbes, Rachel Gooch and Liz Daniel.

On Monday 22nd, Simon “Rosie” Rose took on his incredible 100-hole challenge. Starting at Links at 4.45am, on a day reaching up to 31°C, Rosie visited seven further clubs before returning to Ely in the early evening to complete his final 18 holes on home turf.

Paul Geen accompanied him throughout the challenge, driving him from course to course and keeping him well hydrated. A group of club members welcomed Rosie home and supported him through his final round.

Congratulations to Rosie for completing such a huge challenge.
