It’s back!! 😀

🏓 It’s back! 🎉 The Ping Pong Parlour will be reopening TOMORROW Friday 7th here at The Grafton, with six free-to-use tables ready for you to enjoy.

Whether you’re popping in for a quick lunchtime game, a family day out or a friendly challenge with friends, come and play from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week, until 1 November.

𝐄𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 - 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰

𝐄𝐥𝐲 & 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 / 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Ely 1 were the sole representatives for the club in the top division this season and finished in 5th place. Comfortably clear of relegation their standout win was arguably the 8-2 victory over Burwell 1 in March. However, they faced stiff opposition throughout the season with St. Georges 1 ultimately taking the league honours, only losing once all season.

The club had four teams competing in the second division and Ely swept the top four spots in the league. Ely 2 were division 2 winners, unbeaten throughout the season, also winning the handicap cup beating Haddenham 5-1 in the final at the end of March. Two new players, Graham Fairhill and Daniel Gubala, added some significant firepower to a team with experience of playing in the first division last season. Ely 4 took second, their only losses coming to the league winners and it was great to see some individual improvements within the team. Ely 3 came third, much of the squad used throughout the season with two players returning to league action after long layoffs. Like the 3’s Ely 5 had a rotated team for a large part of the season, despite finishing second from bottom they had some great individual performances and wins throughout the season. Well done to all the players and teams involved.

𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 / 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

This season the club only had one team in the Cambridge league in the second division. Ely 1 finished in second place only losing three times with a seven game unbeaten run stretching from the beginning of November into the middle of January 2026. A total of eight players featured for the team during the season, with Cris Minu the standout for the team making 39 appearances and increasing his win rate % from last season. Daniel Gubala also made his debut in the league, performing well over the season supported by his team mates. Well done to the team and all the players involved.

The Ely and District Table Tennis League gave a small donation on behalf of our local clubs. We hope the centre gets back up and running as soon as possible.

Eli Baraty has vowed to rebuild his eBaTT club after a devastating fire destroyed their London base.

Alan Maynard was the winner of the Ivan Stiff award. Alan was an unseeded player for the tournament and played really well throughout the day.

A huge thank you to all the players, organisers and supporters who gave up their time to make the tournament a success again this year.
