Minimal effective dose can be summed up as the least amount of work to get you the desired result. In other words working smarter rather than harder.

I wanted to talk about this because I see it over and over again. People want quick results (that 6 week transformation) and they jump in the deep end. Its 6-7 days in the gym and it’ll last for oh about 3 weeks… maybe. Unfortunately this frequency is very rarely sustainable. 

So what’s the solution? 

Map out your week. Then figure out what you could realistically do on a regular basis. The key word here is REALISTICALLY. Your schedule might change. That’s ok you can re evaluate things if or when it does. This will set you up for long term success instead of burning out before you really had a chance to hit your stride. 

For most people 3 workouts of 45-60 minutes will be enough to get them some good results. That’s a spare 2-3 hours a week.

Hey I’m Chris,

Long time Personal Trainer but social media newbie!

My fitness journey started a long time ago (back when men’s health was an actual print magazine!) I initially started running to lose weight & after some time I progressed onto weightlifting to build muscle.

Over the years I have made plenty of mistakes & learnt many lessons so that you don’t have to. When it comes to long term sustainable fat loss there is no quick fix or miracle pill!

My ethos is based around consistency balance, enjoyment & real effort!

My gym playlist consists of Iron Maiden, Rise Against, Billy Talent and The Wonder Years.

When I’m not working I’ll be watching trash TV with my wife and little girl or playing DnD with my friends.
