As the dust settles and the rafters finally stop ringing at The Maltings, I just want to thank the six big bands and all those that came to watch and listen to the first Big Band Bash last weekend. It was a truly life enhancing experience! The six bands were:

The Nest Stage presents an evening of Songs, Satire and Salsa! at the St Ives Corn Exchange on Saturday 13 July, starting at 7:30pm. Cambridge's premier salsa band, Viva La Tradicion, will get you into the Latin groove with a great evening of salsa music. They will be supported by the beautiful songs of Ellie Walker and the quirky, sideways look at life of Vince Taylor.

Plans for the Big Band Bash, England's first dedicated big band festival in decades are falling into place nicely. The Big Band Bash takes place over the weekend of Friday 14 June to Sunday 16 June 2024 inclusive.

After a very successful concert in February, we are returning to The Maltings at Ely for the festival. It's a lovely venue with great acoustics and a very helpful management team.

THE BIG BAND BASH IS COMING!
If you’re bowled over by Basie, excited by Ellington or mesmerised by Miller, then the Big Band Bash is for you when England’s first Big Band Festival takes place on 14 to 16 June 2024 inclusive at The Maltings, ELY CB7 4BB.

The Big Band Bash is the first festival dedicated solely to the music and sound of the Big Band. Over the weekend each of the six big bands playing will take audiences through a particular aspect of big band music; the Swing era of the 1930s, dance bands of the 1940s, a special concert highlighting the music of Duke Ellington, a tea dance, current big band music and Big Band at the Movies.
