Assynt Gun Club

The Assynt Gun Club held their winter shoot today.

We had a great turnout to what was a chilly start on the field but it soon improved.

Thank you to all of the competitors that turned out.

Sam Hunter came away with the trophy’s for High Gun and Highest score Assynt Resident.

Hamish Cruickshank came away with the Jimmy Blackley shield for highest scoring Assynt Keeper.

Bruce Blackley walked away with a well deserved bottle after an impressive performance in the re-entry.

As always we were massively supported by the local community and estates. Venison for the table, prizes, hot food / baking, the use of the lodge. Without which the shoot couldn’t go ahead.

A great day had by all and looking forward to welcoming everyone to the summer shoot next year.

We had 16 guns at todays winter shoot, the weather was not on our side making challenging shooting conditions but a good time still had by all.

David Hunter walked away with both the “high gun” and “highest score - Assynt resident”

Bruce Blackley walked away with “highest score - keepers”

Thank you to all the club members for their hard work organising the shoot and the local estates for donating the venison prizes.

Thank you Rhona, Georgia and Laura for the well needed hot rolls and soup. Also for carting all the prizes to the lodge.

Thank you Tim and Linda for running the entries and recording the scores.

Last but not least thank you Veronika for letting us hold the prize giving in the lodge. Everyone appreciated the heat from the fire and a cup of tea!

If you are interested in joining the club we hold 2 practices a month throughout the year on-top of our open shoots. Would be great to see some new members.

Due to unsafe conditions on the shooting ground we have made the decision to cancel tomorrow’s shoot.
Going by the forecast we had hoped that conditions would have been suitable.

Assynt gun club rescheduled winter shoot

❌ Winter shoot cancelled ❌

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have decided to cancel the winter shoot that was to take place on Saturday the 9th of December.

We plan to hold another shoot in the new year and will publish details soon.
