International Women’s Day - March 8 2026

At jogscotland, we’re proud that around 75% of our membership is female — a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience and community that women bring to physical activity across Scotland.

Today we’re celebrating all of the incredible female Jog Leaders who show up week after week — in the rain, wind and dark nights — to support, encourage and help others realise their full potential.

We know many women face barriers to being active. Time pressures, low confidence, fear of judgement, financial constraints, and life stages such as pregnancy, post-partum and ageing can all make it harder to get moving. That’s why creating welcoming spaces matters.

At jogscotland, we provide relatable role models and inclusive, judgement-free and affordable opportunities so more people can connect with physical activity in their local community.

This International Women’s Day, we’d love you to give a shout-out to a woman who inspires you — or someone you’d like to thank for supporting your own fitness journey.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Jeff Galloway, a true legend in the running world and someone who has touched the lives of so many of us in the Jog Scotland family.

Jeff wasn’t just an Olympian — he was a pioneer who helped open the world of running to everyone. Through his visionary run-walk-run approach — what many of our groups affectionately call “Jeffing” — he showed that running could be accessible, joyful, and empowering, no matter your pace or experience. His method encouraged countless runners to believe in themselves, cross finish lines they never thought possible, and find confidence and strength in every step.

We know so many in our community have experienced the power of “Jeffing” — so to Jeff -Thank you for the miles, the motivation, and the messages that running isn’t just about speed, but about heart.

He will be sadly missed, but his legacy lives on with every person who laces up, every walk break that keeps us going, and every finish line crossed with pride.

Let us know what you think!💙

Thinking about giving something back to your running group? Dreaming of starting your own jog group? Or maybe you’ve been considering taking the next step for a while now…

Our Leadership in Running Fitness courses are open for bookings, and there are still plenty of opportunities to sign up!

Great leaders aren’t always the fastest or the fittest. They’re the ones with the biggest smiles, the warmest welcomes, and the best chat at the back of the pack. They’re the ones who remember what it felt like to be a beginner — and make sure no one feels left behind.

If that sounds like you, it’s time to take the leap. Click the link, get signed up, and get set for greatness.😊😊
