Ellon Wheels Pump Track/Cycle Track/Skatepark

On the morning of Saturday 19th the wheel park will be closed for some youth races and a beginners cross cycling race event. This includes the cycle circuit and the pump track.

It's expected that the park will open again at about 1pm.

Road Closures Sunday 16th August & Bus Info

The roads shown in the image below will be closed from 9am to 2.30pm this Sunday 16th August, to allow the Scottish Cycling Youth Circuit Championships and support races to take place.

The affected roads are Market Street, Bridge Street and Station Road from the bakery corner to Green's corner. Access to Aldi will still be possible at the Otter roundabout and vehicles coming along Castle Road will be diverted along Schoolhill Road and up onto Golf Road.

Buses will be operating as far as the Park & Ride, but not into the town centre.

A record-breaking 107 youngsters, from 4-16 years, are coming from all across Scotland to race the much-loved circuit around Ellon town centre.

The wee t***s start racing at 9.10am, with the older riders picking up the pace after midday.

Please come along and cheer on these amazing young people, many of which will go on to be Commonwealth Games & pro-cycling stars of the future.

New premises for us, “soft opening” (no free beers, or cheerleaders)

Open today until 4, Wednesday 1-4, and Thursday 10-4.

What do we do? What don’t we do?

In fairness we haven’t ultimately decided exactly what we will do from our new city base, sure we’ll fix bikes, sell refurbished bikes, and partner up with other local organisations, groups, and projects; but beyond that? Let’s see what happens 🤷🏻‍♂️

We promote active and sustainable travel, and do a whole bunch of cycling and bike focused things.

Unfortunately more chalk graffiti appeared last night. Some of it quite disturbing and racist.

We will do what we can to clear it up, and hope for a bit of rain.

In the meantime if your children were hanging out at the park last night please have a word.

And if you are heading down to the park please take along a bottle of water to help get rid of some of the chalk.

As Neil Fachie bows out of competitive cycling in blaze of glory with two magnificent golds at the Commonwealth games, its worth remembering the words of support he gave to the wheel park when it was in its early stages and we were just dreaming of a facility in Ellon.

Thanks Neil and thanks for all the memories of fantastic racing.
