It’s been a while, 2018 infact since the clio has done a competitive run. Looking forward to the boyndie sprint tomorrow. Unfortunately my sidekick is out with chickenpox.

If you are at loose end tomorrow why not come and support some local motorsport. A big field competing and some really nice motors. Practise runs in the morning and timed runs in the afternoon.

Been a quiet year for y33 racing this year taking a year out. After toasting my clutch last year at boyndie hopefully the lastest purchase from CG Mororsport lasts longer than the last one did. Looking forward to blow the cob webs off at the test day at boyndie in October.

That’s another season done and dusted. Went into today’s event with a dodgy clutch and said I was going to take it easy well that lasted all of 10 seconds 😂

First practice run went well and knew I could push a lot harder if I just nursed the clutch off the start line.

By the second practice run I had already beaten my fast time last year by a second. The clutch was still feeling ok but making a funny noise but wasn’t slipping so could push had on the timed runs.

First timed run felt really smooth and really fast and ran a 71.92 smashing my personal best by over 3 seconds and was sitting 3rd.

Second timed run was even better and used every inch of the track and more and ran a 71.84 another PB with Jim King just piping me of 3rd place. Well done to Ewan and Derek for 1st and 2nd

Well done to everyone in the class for another great years racing. Big thanks to everyone who has helped with the car over the year you all know who you are. Especially Ashley for putting up with the constant Clio talk and parts coming through the door every other day.

Time to get tinkering over the winter and roll on next year.

Brilliant amount of entry’s in A2 class this weekend for boyndie. Fine and local if anyone is keen on taking the sport up to come through and find out all the info needed to compete.

I didn’t write anything after Alford as I was quite annoyed with myself as felt I didn’t do that great. My best practise run was a 60.70 which I was delighted with as last year my quickest was in the 63’s, I knew there was a sub 60 in the car though.

I knew the rain was coming so pushed hard to try and get a good time in. Pushed too hard and ended up on the grass 🙈 kept the foot down to try and not loose to much time but the damage was done and ran a 61.10.

By the time the second timed run came the rain was heavy and knew there was nothing I could do so didn’t even try that hard.

Was good to see a few new cars in A2 class with mike and Derek both out in there recently built cars. Great battles as always between Derek and Jim for championship points.

Another great event by GAC and I look forward to the next one. Looks like boyndie will be my next and last of the year so hopefully that goes well.

For the first time in 4 years I was able to attend my local event, the hillclimb at Fintray organised by Grampian Automobile club.

I could only stay until lunchtime, so this is a selection of images from the 4 morning runs only on the Sunday.

That’s Fintray over with for another year. Always love a weekend there, very well run event by Grampian Automobile Club.

Tough racing again in our class today. Good battles all day. Finally got into the 33 second club...just with a 33.99 another personal best again. Finished 4th today in class so delighted with that.
