Hot on the heels of our U12s, our U14โs took to the ice and delivered a first-class performance, grinding out a thrilling 7-5 victory over Solway.
The first period was a relentless, end-to-end battle with the teams splitting six goals evenly. Solway struck first, but Drew Henderson quickly replied from a Jack McHarg pass. James Tonner then scored an unassisted marker to give us our first lead of the game. Solway surged back with a quick double to jump back in front, but James Tonner netted his second of the night, assisted by Drew Henderson, to level the game at 3-3 heading into the first break.
Both sides traded single goals in the middle period, with James Tonner completing his hat trick off another assist from Drew Henderson, leaving the teams deadlocked at 4-4.
With all to play for in the third period, Drew Henderson struck again, this time finishing a pass from James Tonner, but Solway responded instantly to tie it back up. Refusing to back down, the kids kept the pressure on and finally broke through when Conner Boyne scored the game-winning goal, set up nicely by James Tonner. With just over five minutes remaining, Joe Fife-Schaw put the game out of reach with an unassisted effort to seal the two league points ๐ฆ
