Mhairi Hogg School of Dancing

Mhairi Hogg School of Dancing Established in Colinton Mains/Fairmilehead in 1991, classes are in Tap, Modern and Highland dancing.

Our aim is to promote a love of dance and creativity, giving students an opportunity to take part in fun & friendly classes. We run dance classes on Thursdays and Saturdays at Oxgangs Neighbourhood Centre (71, Firrhill Drive, EH13 9EU). Children can be enrolled from age 3 for Nursery Tap classes where our emphasis is on fun, basic steps and rhythm. Modern dance and Highland dance classes are offered from age 6. Dance students also have the opportunity to sit BATD medal tests and we have Dance Shows at the Church Hill Theatre, Morningside, which are great fun for everyone involved! 🌟 Edinburgh People’s Theatre Christmas Panto : “Robin Hood and The Witches of Sherwood” at the Church Hill Theatre.
🎄 We are organising a Group Booking on Fri 18th Dec at 7pm.

👏 Special congratulations to our dance mum, Carol, Isla B’s mum, who will be starring in the lead role of Robin Hood in the Panto!

🩷💃 We are loving having Evie B back helping at Sat classes. Evie has been doing a course in social media marketing and has been creating some lovely little dance videos for us.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚔️ Last week our littlest dancers were having fun learning some Highland steps, then we finished with our favourite step : “skipping”.

🌟💃 Aug seems to have flown by! We’ve had a fun-filled and productive start to the new dance session 2026-2027 as we learn lots of new steps and dances. Dance Show 2027 will hopefully be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
🌟💃 Most classes are now full but we still have quite a few spaces in our age 3-5 yrs dance class (mostly Tap but also a little Highland). This is on Sats at 12.30pm in Oxgangs Neighbourhood Centre. It’s an exciting way to make new friends and boost confidence, musicality, coordination and social skills. We finish the class with action songs which the children choose 🤩. Free trial class.
