From the organisers.

"Calling all growers, makers, bakers and more!

Braehead Village Trust are hosting a Harvest Fayre at Braehead Village Hall as part of the Lanarkshire Climate Action Festival.

Their generous support means that we can offer tables at only £5 each.

If you've a glut of goods after our actually summery summer, then this is your opportunity to join Braehead's answer to a farmer's market.

All are welcome!

To book your table email [email protected]

There'll be the traditional teas, coffees and cakes available throughout the event, which runs from 12:30-15:00 on Sunday September 13th."

A quick update on the Hall.

Today we received news that our application for a public entertainment license has been approved.

That means we can make the hall available for all your parties and family events.

Need somewhere for that kids party? We've got you.

A family christening? No problem.

Getting married and looking for a beautiful rural location?

Please drop us a line for hiring rates and availability.

People living within the Braehead area get a reduced price.

Hi everyone.

Just a quick (ha. Apologies for the essay. Turns out there's more going on than I thought. Kudos for everyone making it to the end)update on our journey to bringing the hall back to life.

Unfortunately we are still caught up in a licencing issue with the council, due to an objection lodged against the application. This is currently limiting what we can do with the hall and is our biggest concern at the moment.

However...

We're not letting it get us down.

We're looking at inventive ways to use the hall that don't come under the guise of the public entertainment licence, to keep us going until we can start to really build on what we offer.

Now to the difficult bits.

When we were handed the hall, we were promised that it was watertight. Sadly that's not the case. One of our major jobs over the summer is to make the roof of the second hall watertight, so we're not left mopping up a small lake every time it rains.

On that count, we'd like to hear recommendations for any decent roofers in the area who might be willing to come and give us a quote to fix it, and stop it doing any more damage to the interior.

Our second major problem is the floor in the main hall, which has decided it wants to be a passable model for the Pentlands. It's obviously been damp at some point, which has caused parts to swell and lift, making it potentially quite dangerous, especially for anything energetic or for people with impaired balance.

So again, if you know anyone who is good at wooden block flooring and is willing to give us a quote for fixing it, we'd be hugely appreciative.

Over the coming months we're hoping to concentrate on getting the hall tidy and looking good ready for us to start taking some of the more lucrative bookings again.

We're always looking for people who might be interested in getting involved with the running of the hall. Currently a small group have been working hard to get it up and running. Going forward we'd love more input from the village. Even if it's just "I know a club that's looking for somewhere to meet" or if you can spare a couple of hours every now and then to help with events, we'd be eternally grateful. As a voluntary organisation we'll take help wherever it comes. However much, or little, time you can volunteer would be incredibly valuable for this amazing village asset.

If you have any builders/roofers/floorers (is that a word? It is now) names, please drop them in the comments below. If you have suggestions, or other comments, please, again use the comments, or message us directly.

Unfortunately we have to cancel this event for this week due to an ongoing licensing issue, which will be rectified soon. Had a great jamming session this past week, with many amazing players.
